If it should be Watson my concern would be recruitment. We would need to lean into the Consultancy substantially. Watson, will not have formed an opinion on any player who can improve us. He simply wouldn’t have had the time or the backing to bring L1/2 ready players to South Shields. Basically his eye is not in at this level.
Also I think it is important that at least one of Done or Taylor stay to ease the new manager and existing squad together.

He was assistant manager at both Carlisle and MK Dons when they were league teams until he moved to South Shields as manager. He will have enough knowledge of what is around League Two.
As for Done and Taylor, we can hope they stay, but history suggests they will join the manager at Stockport. But remember Henderson is around and he knows the squad backwards. If Watson's style suits the players we have then we shouldn't be too worried. | | | |

If Hendo had been planning to hang his boots up, i think he'd have announced that by now, unless he was waiting to see who was brought into the coaching setup
Can't think he'd have many qualms about Watson/Magnay, and may see a role for himself along the lines you describe, at least for one more season
We know he has business interests outside football, but if the hunger's still there - and there were no signs of it abating last season - he'd be ideal since he could declare no ongoing coaching ambitions which might've been unsettling for the incomers |  |

Nothing has been said but i would be surprised if Taylor and Done don't follow Big Jim to Stockport.
Ian Watson & Carl Magnay does look like it is happening via North East reports.
Nothing confirmed of course so we need to be patient until compensation is agreed and new contracts signed.
Of all the names mentioned this is the one that excites me the most. |
