We need to maximise the squad within the rules, especially in midfield and if we include Edwards, that will be 6, that will allow Watson to cope with suspensions, injuries and issues with form. It cannot left to the situation that we cannot change players, even if they struggling and good team will have depth and unlike the last three seasons in the NL, when we bring people in, now when the transfer window shuts, that's it until January.
Personally I would like the squad consist of at least 2 keepers, 22 outfield players aged over 22 and 2 or 3 outfield players aged under 21. That will allow the management team to rotate the squad accordingly. | | | |

If we’re playing a back four, there’s enough centre back cover now. Especially as Beckwith looked comfortable there and Moss could fill in too.
By the same argument, unless we are playing a three man midfield then I’d agree with you on being one too many there. If East or Jenkins are going to be regulars in a more advanced role, fine. | |

We need a forward with a record of 15 goals plus a season in the EFL. Not easy to come by and expensive. Mani and Dev have been super for us but neither have that sort of goal scoring prowess in the EFL.

I think the make-do and mend days are behind us. We are moving towards a new level within the club which will positively effect the quality on the pitch. The plan now has increasling levels of certainty, our own training ground, an increasing crowd - base, carefully thought through, timed, steps, each taken in turn, each a turning cog in the machine. Playing quality being carefully improved, a new Academy, players leaving for higher levels who will contribute financially perhaps for a decade or more.
Better players, better infrastucture, more supporters, a machine that feeds itself and improves relentlessly. As players reach their natural level they will be replaced by players capable of reaching the next one. There will be no more fire sales, no more selling the family silver for peanuts, we are moving into the position where we can say "no" to low-ball transfer offers and wait until our valuations are met. Enjoy the ride, it might be the most fun we have ever had..

Whilst very one would agree we have improved as a club beyond expectation over the last couple of years, the phrase “enjoy the ride” sends shivers down the spine.
As we’ve seen with things like the kit, media comms and even differing thoughts on playing matters, it is essential the club are fully aware this is a fanbase who will always back their club, whilst at the same time challenging it to be better.
It can be argued that there have been mistakes made this summer. It’s about learning from them and improving. To not do so would be to ‘enjoy the ride’

There was no comparison made between how the clubs were ran, only that such a phrase should not be used by any set of supporters. No matter who the club is. The most extreme example was used to illustrate this.
I clearly noted how much the club has improved and have no doubt it will continue to do so.
There were also examples of how we could do better, missteps made. Surely it is important to acknowledge this, address it and put processes in place that ensure there are further improvements in future? To not do so would be resting on the laurels of ‘everything is great/back the club’. Backing the club is voicing how it can be even better.
Also that T word which appears to have turned up at the same time as ‘low blocks’ and ‘high press’ is a nonsense. If it means “does a point have issues that could be debated?’, then yes, that was the case. | |

The numbers in defence look encouraging and there's a good mix of experience and youth. It will be interesting to see who claims the right back position, which player in TAR or Moss has the best engine and more importantly who is the best defender. It's close i think but Moss might just have the edge. We'll have to trust the managers judgement on that but they might end up sharing the responsibility, i like them both.
Midfield speaks for itself, i'm happy with what we have, plenty of quality.
Forwards we have players who all have quality but Hendo wont be a starter, he's best when defenders are tiring and unfortunately Rodney is a bit fragile, that could easily leave us over reliant on Mani D. A striker who is physical and picks up yellow cards, it goes with the territory. So we need another goalscorer with plenty of pace hopefully and another wide player. I have a gut feeling that Hannant is going to really step up to the plate this season, that was a good bit of business by McNulty, he's a intelligent footballer.
I do have concerns about the goalkeeping department, the lad from Brighton hasn't been tested at this level ( they aren't all like Watmuff) and the goal Sam Waller conceded on Saturday reminds me of his last stint at the club when he went walkabout on several occasions. Good players in this league will pick up on that and it'll cost us. Hopefully my concerns wont come to fruition and one of the keepers will have a solid season. There are spending restrictions in place now which we will have to adhere to. I would imagine it could be two or three years before we get established and start to recycle players and hope to start selling them on for big profit. With increased attendances, and other income streams we can then hopefully become less reliant on the Ogdens funding. I don't ever see a day when the club is entirely self sufficient though, i hope i'm wrong. | | | |

It is a squad game.
Will be interesting times when everybody (bar Jenkins) is fit and available. Hope Petit is okay soon as he gives us physicality.
Agree that Hannant could be a trump card at No 10 but would also expect Rodney to fight for that slot. Moss could provide FB cover on either flank and has done before. We need a decent goalscoring forward as cover for Mani hopefully someone at the same standard as Smith. Easier said than done I know.
Incredible to think that TAR might not figure in the first XI but we should not discount him as he more than capable in filling a role -never lets us down. | | | |
