I think it’s highly likely that after 5 games we will still be on 0 points. The question is how long can the board leave it before they admit they made a mistake with this appointment. I think he has 2 games at most to save his job. It’s that bad. I do not see how this side is not going to get relegated and we literally can’t afford that.
I think there are some footballers in this squad but they are playing without any apparent game plan, zero control and are seemingly frantic and panicking every time they get the ball. It just seems completely chaotic and players are running around like headless chickens. This lack of organisation is a managerial issue. It’s scary how things have flipped 180 degrees over a summer. There are some players in there who are also not good enough and I don’t think are offering enough on the pitch.
I don’t want IW to lose his job. I am sure he is trying his best. I want him to be successful. And he has had a tough pre-season. But none of that excuses the chaos on the pitch. This is Steve Eyre / Robbie Stockdale replayed and we need someone with experience and leadership in that dressing room right away. | | | |

Just listened to the game -another two hours I will never get back. Despite trying to dress the seriousness of the situation up even the Dale Player commentators sounded a bit despondent.
Although on the face of it it sounded like an improved away performance where we might of salvaged a point, did we ever look like scoring? Where are our goals going to come from?
Unfortunately IW looks underqualified and inexperienced at this level waiting for us to go one down late in the game before changing things. We need to be much more proactive. Worst of all he strikes me as an 'unlucky' manager based on signings and injuries to date. Not a good combination.

Frantic and panicking is perfectly put. And his signings are abysmal too. The other worry is we are stuck with what we have now… whether that’s with Watson or another.
I’m absolutely hanging on to the fact a win is a monkey off the back and they turn a corner. I don’t know where that win comes from as it stands and even if we do turn a corner…will it be enough long term to amass the points needed.

Who is advising the Board on football matters? I don't think there is anyone on the Board with football knowlege .... other than being fans. Relying on external adviors or analysts isn't going to help. Are they looking for a Director of Football to guide them at least in the short term. Who is going to make a decision?
Personally I'd go and bring some experience in quickly- preferably as manager before we lose all the momentum of last season. We know who is available [Post edited 29 Aug 17:35]

Grim ... for 1 against 6 points 0.. Rock bottom . No evidence of a prefered side or a system that works. Something needs to change or the position will be virtually irrecoverable. Generously, I would say he has half a dozen more games , but at 9 or 10, possibly fewer games in , if we are still rock bottom and nothing has changed , the Board will have to act, there is no sympathy in this business
The major problem is that the Manager hasn't managed a win in 90 minutes since he arrived. Whatever he is trying to inculcate is either a nonsense or the players simply don't understand it or are incapable of actioning it. Its the definition of stupidity, doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result.
Has anyone yet seen even a glimmer that this is going to work out? The next certainty is that the dressing room spirit will start too implode and then its curtains....
This season should be about establishing a base, being tough to beat and able to score a goal or two. I'm not sure we have the right mix in the squad to permit that.

The stock of the Board is high at the moment following last seasons promotion, and their obvious financial input which will always be remembered fondly. However, sometimes, it's the correct thing to do to admit that you've dropped a clanger, and very sadly, this appointment falls into the clanger category. Little pedigree beforehand and zero League experience coupled with IW promising exciting attack minded football and delivering negative garbage with no obvious structure should tell the Board all they need to know. Combine this with several of last seasons better players simply not buying into whatever he is telling them to do should make parting company an easy but very costly mistake.
History tells us the rookie managers are more likely to struggle than succeed. Sadly, this appointment smacks more of a Walter Joyce than a Robbie Stockdale or Steve Eyre type style. Older readers may need to look up our record under Joyce, and what he did to a successful team in a short period of time.
So sad that much of the feel good atmosphere from Summer has already been replaced by thoughts of a relegation back from whence we came. So far; this team would be in the bottom 4 of the National League such is their confusion and lack of off field leadership. | | | |
