The club is taking great strides forward, our CEO is the business and there was mention of an appointment to oversee the playing side
Could be that the board are seeking to put distance between themselves and the footballing side by this position |

It certainly covered what I wanted to know - the questions around recruitment, the kit and the choices around subs/selection of the back four. I didn’t agree with all the answers but appreciated Watson dealt with them well.
On other questions, it would depend on what other people wanted to know. They should have been visibly afforded the chance to ask them.
If they were intending to show the Champions League game and the forum had any sort of time limit (it may not have and it was all just poorly handled), make that clear in advance. It’s created an unnecessary negative especially as it was obvious that questions were being asked in a respectful manner. | |

Or maybe get some expertise in to help with that side, especially with the academy starting up again. There is more 'football' to deal with. They may also have oversight of the women's team and other community teams as part of their remit. |

Since i got home from the forum, there's been something i couldn't quite put my finger on: but it's now occurred to me what it was about IW, from being in the room with him last night
As he was talking, i stopped listening. He didn't engage my attention. With a squad of young (or not so young) men to corral into a fighting force, he lacked sufficient presence
Simon Gauge has referred to how his recruitment came with lots of endorsements, but he didn't come across as a leader. Perhaps that's how the players are seeing him? It's unfortunate, but if you look at all the successful managers, they all have a certain presence - and it's nothing to do with size
He's no doubt "likeable", but i can't imagine him taking a player to task, or at least not doing so without putting their nose out of joint, so to speak | |

Lots of us said the same about Sweetmore and were shouted down and ridiculed by his fanboys. A “massive Rochdale fan” apparently. Anyone seen him at a game since he went?
There are others too who’ve appeared from nowhere and now think they’re the bees knees and can tell long time supporters what they should be saying or thinking. Doesn’t wash with me I’m afraid. [Post edited 11 Sep 6:43]

442Dale - if I can remember, I was suggesting that IW needed some experienced pro's or coaches to assist him. McNulty for his first two years did not have the support and I feel the recruitment of Done (ex-player & coached at Port Vale) and Taylor (ex-player & coached at Barrow) was difference last season, he also used Hendo, when he was not in the team. Whereas IW may be in the same position, he may need somebody to assist him, yes he has Magnay (who has coached at Gateshead) and Mangan (who has coached at Skelmersdale), but is this enough at EFL level?

I know exactly what you mean. People criticised Jim but he had a presence and he was a leader of men. Hilly and Flitcroft could also do this in their own ways. People may have credentials, but do they have the presence and can they create an 'environment'? I do get injuries and the lack have time have played a massive part it all feels very Stockdale. Nice guy, but not really the right guy. I would like to say see where we are at Christmas when most of the existing injuries will have cleared up, but we cannot afford to reach Christmas and be adrift. I suspect there will be shapeshifting in the January transfer window anyway and that these targets will already be lined up. I physical, athletic centre back is a must. |  | | |

I don't have a dog in this fight by any means, but players at SS (Jenkins in particular) praised IW for his support and coaching, which developed player's ability. I was told.
That, of course, can be more difficult as you go up the pyramid and 'stars' think they are already good. We have a lot of loanees who may already think this. Callum Perry was the exact opposite. Probably no 'one size fits all' answer to lots of problems but he needs answers fast for everyone's sakes. |  |

Magnay played and coached in the Football League.
And McNulty did have support in the first two years. We can all debate the quality of it, but Kevin Gibbons had worked with BBM at EFL level and then left to work with him again.

A lot has been said about BJ, but one thing which shines out like a beacon, especially now, is that everyone knew exactly where they should be, exactly what was expected of them and if they wouldn't or couldn't they would be replaced. Thank you for the response, I would agree, it is about the quality of the support and I personally think Taylor and Done was an improvement on Gibbons. We may agree to disagree on the issue, but we all want the best for the Dale.

It’s not just about agreeing to disagree, which is fine, it’s recognising that posting something factually incorrect to support an argument is deserving of a “sorry I got that wrong” when it’s pointed out.

Excellent response from the Trust.
To read that not all questions sent to them were covered is extremely disappointing. Especially as much was made of this route for fans unable to attend.
Apologies to those who saw posts on here and followed this route and didn’t get their question asked.

The forum is now on YouTube. Not watched it in full yet but it’s showing as 57mins long. The first 23 minutes are the opening comments from the panel. Before the questions start, in relation to the questions sent to the Trust, the MC mentions that “we need to make sure we allow time for those questions to be asked.”
There then follows approx 23 mins of questions from the floor, these are then followed by those sent into the Trust.
The MC then states just before the 54 minute mark on the video that they will take one further question from the floor as “we are over time”. Approx 3 mins later the forum ends. [Post edited 11 Sep 13:46]

Didn’t understand the “disappointment” about more than one of McNulty’s coaching staff joining him. If anyone was expecting it just to be Taylor, did people really believe Done would turn down the offer to move to stay when his own role may be in doubt when a new manager came in?
Unless the idea was to offer him the managers job, it was an inevitable career move. | |
