Don't want to single him out because pretty much to a man we've been awful but Sherring's confidence looks shot to bits and he doesn't want the ball anywhere near him.

Or he's just not up to it

Beckwith on, and switch Tasker to his better side surely?

Some in pearl street booing him when he gets the ball won't help anything.

It really won’t and we are better than that. But Watson should have taken him out of the firing line at half time as well as lifting the crowd with Henderson on too.

He didn’t. That’s a really poor bit of management.

Not making any changes at half time is scandalous. You are supposed to set standards Watson.

There are serious question marks again after this shambles.

They don't appear to have a clue what they are doing (players / management).

I thought we'd turned a corner but this is abysmal.

It is but we also don’t need to get too reactionary and go all Oldham and call for the manager’s head/say we are going up depending on results.

This season will require some fortitude in the same way it was required after the setbacks when we were in non league.

Agree 442. To be very clear I'm not calling for Watson to go. It's worrying that we've collpased again - confidence seems so fragile. And the managerial decisions just do not fill me with confidence at all. After 40 years watching the Dale, trust me, I have fortitude!

No I know, but we know what it’s like.

No excuses for him today though, even with the injury situation

I’m sticking to my Watson never in. It’s too chaotic and not what we need. Losing 5-0 at home is there with the biggest shower of 💩 I have seen in many a year. Shocking in every level this one

As bleak as the weather.
Why has no one got at Tutonda after his early yellow. So naive.
Notice Sherring was straight down the tunnel after being subbed.
Paterson must be wondering what he’s let himself in for.
At least Gilmour is still chasing lost causes.

Probably best to draw a line under that one as soon as possible. As abysmal as we were, I was quite impressed with Accy. Never stopped pressing to give us a foothold in the game and they had some slick, incisive moves. We could probably do with Tutonda at the moment, he had a good game. That's ten shipped in three games now, the 'Flint Effect' has well and truly worn off.

Very impressed wirh Accy considering the budget they have. No wonder they have been on a good run.

To be fair today was a case of all the chances the opposition have missed the last few weeks coming home to bite, defensively as a unit we are not good enough, and the clamour for Waller is proof that the fans have as much clue as the management 😀.
If our passing is off, we literally have nothing else to offer, and today it wasnt only off, it was pathetic.
We basically gave the game away.
Tough to blame IW for this, he must be as shocked as anybody by the performance.
The true definition of a shambles.
We can blame the gaffer for not changing it, probably by the 20 minute mark you could see our shape wasnt working, there appears to be no plan B, and thats a worry.

That was awful, cannot think of a single positive to be fair....

Sherring needs to learn how to play football again and drop to a lower standard. Adeeko had an absolute nightmare and surely should have changed his boots as he couldn't keep off his arse and losing the ball, Francis was lazy and didn't seem arsed, Gilmour should have been further forward in the 3 as Francis stunk the gaff out.
Waller , well enough said he basically given them 2 goals on his own, Hayes was ineffective and you cannot just put your head down and run and hope to keep the ball in this division against some of the teams that are well drilled like Accy. The pass from Wilson to Sherring which I think caused the 4th goal was ridiculous across your own box ...

Middleton was the only one in my opinion that had any quality and did put in 3 great crosses with nobody there.

Any other positive ...... NO

I would make the team watch this match again on Monday as passing and effort like that is not acceptable and Watson should have been stronger at half time and made 3 changes at least... How Francis stayed on that pitch in the second half was a mystery

Ok ..rant over, please, please, please can we have some injured players back as half that team will be in the stands in January...🙏🙏🙏🙏

To continue the theme from midweek, not one to forget. We need to remember this, providing it's the low point of the season, but can't say it will be

As morale-destroying a performance as i can recall, and that goes back a very long way

I think the clamour for Waller was just that most wanted someone (anyone) who's not Ramming. Neither inspire me with any confidence.

You contradict yourself a bit by saying it's tough to blame Watson for this and then a couple of sentences later blaming him?

Anyone who watched the second half on Tuesday ( and was not blinded by Hendersons cameo) could have seen this coming. We were all over the place then and very fortunate to not to concede more. This ninety minutes was very much the same but against a team ruthless enough to exploite our dithering and uncertainty. Brace yourself because unless we improve rapidly there will be more of these results to come.

Gillingham and today are two of the worst home performances that I can't remember in this division, where are we going with this manager?

The simple truth is that the cavalier style football that we employ under Watson (which I do quite enjoy) means that our defence/defensive commitment needs to be really robust and competitive.

We are neither of those things.

Flint is great but his limitations are obvious.

Tasker is generally very adventurous and not quite yet adept in the defensive arts (I think he has been brilliant for us so far though).

Wilson is a mixed bag but I would say on balance, quite unreliable.

Sherring isn’t a footballer.

Ebanks-Landell (for all his misgivings) is miles better than what we have but is injured.

Beckwith is probably our best defender but just isn’t quite fit enough.

Then you have to consider the midfield we have for them to get through in the first instance.

Francis is just not up to it I’m afraid. He is absolutely anonymous most of the time but again, with Petit and East injured, what options do we have?

Adeeko is a decent midfielder and I do like him. However, he was completely bypassed for most of the game today (he is allowed a bad game though I feel).

Gilmour does try hard and you can never accuse him of a lack of effort. However, I am unsure as to whether he is what we need ar this level. And that’s hard to say given the service he has given us over the years.

A word on the keeper as well.

Waller is no better than Ramming. It’s OK saying that the manager instructs them to play out from the back but you have to have the wherewithal to know when to clear it and when to fcuk about. That put us on the back foot against an Accy side who, tbf, looked very efficient and throughly deserved their sizeable win.

Shout out to Tutonda who I thought had a good game for them. As for Mouldon, I think he could send his gloves back as BNIB.

Overall (and IMO) we cannot continue to play this style of football with such a flimsy defence. 10 goals in 3 games makes it difficult to win football matches. It’s that simple

There will and with so little options available to the manager he has to get the simple things right. Like making substitutions at half time if only to lift the crowd. Like recognising when the opposition have set up in a way that causes us problems and reacting to it.

That said, there’s been enough so far to show we can compete at this level. It would be fair to say the injuries are holding us back by 4/5 points so far.

Today, as bad as it was, wasn’t as bad as Gillingham for example. Accrington were a much better team and we had far more of our squad available that day but looked like we didn’t know what we were supposed to be.

The problem that does remain, despite illustrating how we can be effective, is that too many players look lost when the game gets away from them.

One of the biggest worries is whether Beckwith can last a significant amount of a game. If not, the options in defence are beyond limited.

Tutonda was very good. The way he was positioned, alongside his colleague at RWB, was where Watson struggled to deal with Accrington tactically.

It was like Dale last season when the wingbacks (eg. TAR and Pritchard) would push right up on the opposition fullbacks, with our wide central defenders covering any threat out wide. That both Accy’s wingbacks also got back in quickly when we had the ball meant Hayes and Middleton had frustrating days. It was risky from Accrington too, but they got it right.

You’re right, it exposed Flint too, he’s ok in a battle with a centre forward but with a fluid attacking unit he understandably isn’t as commanding.

And yes, so many of these problems can be traced back to the midfield/no.10 set up. Those that are fit have to play at present. It doesn’t excuse Henderson not coming on at half time to give them something to think about though. Bor the decision to employ Gilmour as the one sitting when he’d already proven to be better playing ahead of Francis in that role.

No worse than plenty under Buckley, Barrow and, more recently, Bentley.

Unfortunately, or fortunately I could not make the game today. Francis either sits or does not play. He does not have the legs to operate in any other role. Listening to Watson's interview he mentions their 'athletic players' and how they, in effect worked harder with and without the ball. We are especially hamstrung in midfield with a lack of different options. Smith being out also limits the rotation wide.

There was on paper enough quality to not get hammered in that manner. A lot of the clamour for Waller to start should also die down.

I’ve seen worse over the years (anyone else remember losing 6-0 to Plymouth at Spotland around 1973) but that’s way up the list of dispiriting performances.
Comprehensively outplayed.
And that midfield trio all played because the only current backup is a 16 year old rookie.

Post match comments from Watson: “Nothing to like in the performance”…. “Didn’t recover from early mistake” etc. So like everyone else in the ground at HT he can see the way the game is going.

On that basis surely you make early changes! I was astounded that at 0-3 at HT he didn’t make subs.
