You've just reminded me of the waffle thread in the era of Fondles. And the joke thread that was constantly on the first page of threads for years despite only ever having one person post in it.

Met a yank of similiar age through work who ‘loves’ British comedy and quoted Monty P, Fawlty Towers and Benny Hill.

As a gift i gave him the box set of Father Ted* to try to modernise him which got me wondering.

What over the last 5/10 years has the potential to be seen as iconic Brit Comedy. Mrs Browns Boys need not apply.

*I know Craggy Island is not British.

Poll: DF in or out

Good. Mrs Browns Boys is terrible.

I'd cautiously suggest The Inbetweeners because despite its puerility, it's very funny and I doubt it would work in other countries but Britain.

Not Going Out has its moments and seems very British to me. I thought The Office was iconically British too but the American version seems to be rated even more highly.

The best comedy that I've seen in the recent(ish) past has to be Early Doors, its criminal that there's only two series

Oh I don't know. Nottingham-born Nathan Stanton winding-up Notts County fans at Meadow Lane 11 years ago was quite comedic.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?
