BBM only has a contract to May 2022 and so will most of the players.

Agree the option to sell in the January window should not be overlooked here.
If the club are laying outside the top 10 by Christmas I expect BBM will be gone. Then I would also expect O’connell’s agent to get busy. If we are in the promotion mix I can see him wanting to see the season through and then decide where his future lies.

I think this wasn’t lost on the club and therefore would not be at all surprised if O’Connell was offered at least same terms to stay. I think I’m right in saying that the EFL regulations state that all permanent contracts have to expire on the same date, 30th June in any particular year.
So he couldn’t sign a six month deal now but he could at Christmas if you understand what I’m trying to say. | | | |
