Bees v Hoops match thread 10:58 - Nov 27 with 46266 views | dublinr | Let me start this one. I'm sitting by the sea in Dun Laoghaire in beautiful sunshine - and there's no wind. THAT NEVER HAPPENS. Today is going to be a day of miracles. Things that never happen are happening. We will win on the telly. We will win a London derby. We are going to beat Brentford. Bees 2 Rs 3

Bees v Hoops match thread on 22:00 - Nov 27 with 1881 views | DieByYourSide | Well. Gap closing is the optimistic way of looking at it. If we’d made more of the first half when we were on top could’ve been a different story. Still pissed off our record against them is so poor but at least we surpassed the very low previous bar of Brentford (A) and got the win against Rotherham. They don’t look promotion material and hopefully we get something off them at LR

Bees v Hoops match thread on 21:48 - Nov 27 by queensparker | Not too p*sssed off about that, I said yesterday as long as we can walk away having given them a good game (which hasnt happened for a while) I’d take it, and that’s what we did. Glad Dykes scored. Brentford look like they’ve missed their chance to me, that’s nowhere near the team they’ve had for last 3 years. |
I agree this is a different Brentford but it looks like a side more likely to go up to me. Ugly, cynical. They appealed for everything as a team. Denied everything as a team. Won a game they didn't play that well in. Striker scoring in every game. Riding their luck. Money in the bank you could only dream of with a transfer window approaching fast. 4th in the league.

Bees v Hoops match thread on 21:54 - Nov 27 by stevec | Soon as it gets down to physicality we lose, why we get done at corners and free kicks all the time. Really frustrating, you can play as much pretty passing as you like but lose the battles and you fail. |
A lot of their players looked chunkier than hours. I noticed that on the line-ups for corners and set pieces. Hämäläinen is fine when the ball is on the ground, but got done for the goal.

Bees v Hoops match thread on 22:04 - Nov 27 with 1803 views | Watford_Ranger | Frank changed things at half time and Warburton just hoped we’d continue to dominate from the first half. Out-thought, I thought. We remain one good midfielder away from being a handy side.

He shouldn't have been marking Toney though. He probably couldn't believe his luck having a little leftback marking him for a set piece.

Bees v Hoops match thread on 22:06 - Nov 27 with 1757 views | stainrods_elbow | Sky reminding us all that we lead the Champ in goals conceded from set-pieces AND corners. When and where will this end? Hamalainen was very poor tonight and convinces me as a full-back about as much as a bowl of blancmange, but my question to the club after a year of diabolical defensive stats would be: At what point do Eustace and/or the so-called defensive coaches get given their cards? We seem to invest in failure.

Bees v Hoops match thread on 22:06 - Nov 27 with 1754 views | Noelmc | It's the best performance we have put in against them in a while and we kept battling to the end despite being a man down. Another Championship match decided on one very poor refereeing decision and their ability to defend set pieces well, which we once again failed to do.

That was my first thought but they’ve got three big centre-halves up there and we have Barbet, Dickie, Ball and Dykes at a push so something had to give. If Cameron plays then a better defender probably has Toney. Still, woeful defending.
Bees v Hoops match thread on 22:11 - Nov 27 with 1671 views | kensalriser | Thought we dominated for long periods, the difference was that Dykes fluffed a chance and Toney took his. Defending for the first goal inexcusable though.

Toney had scored 11 goals in 11 games coming into this. Dickie should have been marking him at set pieces. [Post edited 27 Nov 2020 22:19]

I know what you mean but I'd still prefer the centre half marking the centre forward and the left back picking up one of the centre halves.

Exactly. It’s so frustrating and so avoidable. You wouldn’t see it at Sunday League the defence let a full back mark the oppo’s big no. 9 at a set piece. It’s just basics which we keep getting wrong at set pieces. It’s avoidable and it needs to stop.

I thought Chair had a chance to control the ball and shoot before it got to Dykes.

Bees v Hoops match thread on 21:57 - Nov 27 by bakerloo8 | Not sure what Kane brings to the team, what sort of position was he taking up for the winner? Awful. Not the worst performance, ref was terrible. On we go... |
Harsh this in my opinion. Thought he had a good game until the sending off. Could argue he was stupid to put a challenge like that after the first yellow. He was marking a man on his own when the ball was played . It was Brights man I think, but as the pundits said at the time he might have been instructed to let him go. I don’t think anyone came out looking terrible tonight, except Haamelainen perhaps.

Bees v Hoops match thread on 21:54 - Nov 27 by bosh67 | Not a bad performance but the mission was to stop their one threat, Tonie, who at £5m looks like a steal. We failed to keep him out but he's that good. Shame as he was on our list but we had a natural fear of Peterborough after Washington. |
He didn't have to be particularly good to score his goal against our f*cking feckless left-back - just to stand there and make a decent ball hit his head! Throw in an opportunity for one of theirs to line up his first shot on target for his club and score a goal, and it's a familar Friday night in the life of a QPR fan. I share a feeling of bilious terror if BOS leaves in Jan., as he's clearly performing now to hus utmost to keep himself in the shop window. We just don't have much attacking creativity without him as far as I can see, apart from a lovable QPR fan in his mid thirties, a kid from Benfica still learning how good he can be, and the talented but inconsistent Mr Chair. To me, compared to past games against Brentford, I feel almost more bitter when we can do as well as we did in the 1st half, and then still throw it away in the 2nd against bloody, bloody Brentford. To top it off, Warburton's post-match interview, completely legitimate grievance on the Sorensen yellow and not red card aside, also worries me. Feck you, football!

To me it looks like we don’t really want it enough when defending dead balls particularly. Niko was putting no physical pressure on Toney, the centre backs were abdicating their responsibility and much as I like Dieng, he should have been screaming at Niko to get right side. I didn’t like what happened after we scored what was an excellent goal either. BOS seems to have the permanent hump, none of the forwards came over to congratulate Dykes, Chair was dismissive v Watford of Dykes taking the penalty he’d won. Feels like a lack of camaraderie up front. We’re not a bad side when we have the ball but no ones dying for each other when we don’t have it.

I'd have put Barbet on him, Noel. Slightly more pace for the nippy lad.

For his size, Barbet is often outmuscled on crosses so would have gone with Dickie marking him at set pieces. Agree with you though that Barbet was our best player tonight.

i like Barbet, but as our most experienced defender, it seems to me that he abdicates responsibility. He shouldn't have let Armstrong isolate Dickie at Blackburn imho.

Opinions eh. I thought we put in loads of graft. Would like to see the stats for miles covered and tackles won. I’d imagine we dominate both.
