Would you take out of the cup & play offs if it meant McNulty being sacked? on 08:49 - Mar 27 by EllDale
Promotion would make it an easier target to reach as away supporters figures may well increase. If you’re talking about 5000 home fans I think it would take a sustained period of onfield success to achieve.
Yes, agree with that but with the Ogdens the club could be in a different place in five years time, literally. Something radical needs to happen in that time span i think.

maybe we should apply to join the national league north. it would take exceptional conditions to do that, but at least it would cut out costly away trips to God-Forsaken places down south.

Brackley, Kings Lynn, Hereford and Oxford are all in NLN this year so there’s still some travelling involved. And you’d lose gate receipts from visits by teams like Oldham, York and Halifax. I get what you mean though.

5,000 last achieved in 1969/70.
Current average 2,589 (believe the arsenal system for recording attendance is utilised).
The onfield success that got us to div 1 resulted in the average crowds of 3,400 in that division, still a hefty chunk to make up.
Only if Jim gets a NASA type budget we will even remotely get near 5,000, even then he would manage to pull a rabbit out of the hat and we would miss target. His style of play is very banal.
Banal - so lacking in originality as to be obvious and boring. Nailed it Jim.

Just want us to win the next game. Then the one after that. Et cetera. It's not complicated.
Vital that we get results in the next two games to rebuild some momentum and confidence ahead of the semi-final
Ridiculous thing to be even thinking about, with us being in a playoff place in the division above the opposition (who absolutely aren't being underestimated)
It is what it is, but there's been no sense at any stage during the season of the kind of momentum that a side vying for promotion should have
What I am hoping is that the lessons learned are stinging the manager and the players and a plan is being worked on for the remaining games.
Make no excuses.. these next 3 games are really huge in the context of this season and on what we can (or cant) achieve.
A Trophy final at Wembley AND a chance to take our place in the playoffs... I would be happy with that lets see where we are at after Spennymoor on the 5th April.
Up the Dale..

I think beating Gateshead, Wealdstone then the 3-0 against what looked like our main 7th,6th place rival Altrincham gave us some great momentum going into the Oldham game. Then we had Birds wonder goal and a real chance to push on again but missed chances and overplaying rather that shoot on goal scuppered us again - we went defensive for the last 20 mins and Birds injury and substitution ultimately led to Oldham equalising. We've never really recovered since. Hopefully they can snap out of this slumber tomorrow and realise what a great chance they have to make history.
Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

Results aside, our approach in those games you mentioned was totally different.
And now, for some reason that only JM will be aware of, we have reverted back to the same, shite, pedestrianesque play that we have seen far too often this season.
If we are to still be successful this season, we need to signify our attacking intent early on and take the game to teams.
Not holding my breath though…

To be fair, it isn’t James’ poll.
Still a daft poll though and James does has form for doing the same. This poll should be treated with the contempt it deserves. There's not enough people contribute to the forum to conduct any sort of poll really, not much point.

I don’t disagree.

The average tenure of a manager can’t be much more than 18 months. We have had multiple times more failed managerial appointments than successful ones. So if we deem JM a failure on what he has achieved so far, then the odds are against us finding a better one. It doesn’t scream out to would be managers that we are a great opportunity when a play off finish and semi of a trophy is considered justification for sacking a manager. Living in the south east I have heard numerous West Ham fans bemoaning that this or that manager doesn’t play “the West Ham way”, e.g Moyes. I think we are getting like those fans ,a bit precious about the what is an acceptable level of entertainment we are seeing. JM is not blinkered, he would never have made it as a player, if he disagreed with any manager whose style he didn’t like. Remember KH bought him to the club, he wasn’t a bad judge for most of his career.
