Simon Grayson given the chop at Hartlepool.
Currently 12th in the league but they’ve only won one from their last eleven games.

According to the Hartlepool forum they have six managers in just two years and apparently nine in three years, which is absurd by anyone standards.

Lee Grant given his P45 at Huddersfield.
Gone with him is former Dale defender Paul McShane who was on his coaching staff.

There are some really scathing comments on there…thats a club that is as high as it has ever been in its history. A really tough gig for whoever takes that on. Fans seem to be expecting qualifying for europe.

McNulty must be near the top of longest serving managers in the conference.

It was a good read that. It’s positive that we’re seeing the advantages of allowing a manager time, especially when it’s obvious they are continually progressing within a structure. Too many clubs react too quickly these days, and while it’s obvious you have to act when things are badly wrong (Bentley and Eyre for example), Dale are traditionally a club who are patient pays off.

This seems to be something the current regime buy into as well. No doubt they’ll have had Another clamouring for a change after the disappointments of last season, but as with any other business they’ll make decisions calmly. It’s paid off so far and if there are further disappointments it’ll be analysed properly again.

Keeping a calm head, much like Dunphy and co back after Hill’s two playoff campaigns fell short.

Managers are not given much time today, Eric Ramsay appointed in January 2026, sacked February 2026 after eight games, so McNulty who is approaching three years in charge of Rochdale seems an achievement in modern football.

Remarkably, he's the third-longest serving manager in the National League, behind Kevin Maher (Southend) and Andy Peaks (Tamworth).
