Norwich Reflection 17:15 - Jan 1 with 5844 viewsbluenwhite10

Really poor performance against a very poor side and got what we deserved nothing.

Played like they just rolled from a NYE party, and fair play to Norwich they wanted it a bit more and slowed the game down when it was needed.

I have to say every dead ball hit the 1st man and in general every ball into the box was poor.

Only thing worse than the performance was the state of the pitch.

I do appreciate it is a lot of games in a short space of time but I think it is changes for changes sake at the moment in general, but that seems to be across all teams.

Hard to be analytical on such a poor performance, but assorted reflections.

- Neither Hayden nor Morgan made much of a case for replacing Varane.
- Madsen probably came out of it with more credit than most, on the basis that he actually managed to string a couple of progressive passes together, and threw his head into someone's boot which was something.
- Mbengue can actually hit them like that on purpose.

Kone and Burrell were hopeless today: hardly won anything and were half hearted when challenging for the ball. In fact all our ‘attacking’ players had a mare: no guile or creativity at all and lost the ball all the time. Lack of urgency throughout the whole team from the first minute.

Another million changes from the Tinkerman. Making no difference to what we are seeing on the pitch. Just play your best team. Those on the bench have to earn the right to get in the side. Strange how players like Dunne are always good to play. Even our keepers are getting rotated! Must be the only club where that happens. Stephan needs to learn quickly.

There's a goal scorer out there for sale this Month I hope?

Absolute dross. Missed our goal as I left when their second went in. For someone who was supposedly appointed for his ability to manage three-game weeks, he's not doing great, is he?

Maybe I misheard on Comms (chronic tinnitus), but did Tyler say that was Nardi’s last game at HQ ?

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

Really poor today, outfoxed by a Norwich team who had us in their back pocket, especially their number 33 in central defence . Morgan had a mare when he came on, thought Hayden should not have been taken off.

Burrell is joint 3rd Champ top scorer if you've not been watching this season!

Unfortunately, the other guy up top is League 1 level.

It would help if we had at least one goalscoring midfielder - or even one who could/would just shoot!

While we're hardly tearing up trees as an attacking force, a bigger issue is our porosity - we've let in more goals than anyone apart from Sheff Wednesday, who I'm sure we're all looking forward to welcoming to 'Loftus' shortly. (Worry not - I'm sure our astute tactical manager will have a terrifically cunning plan to stop Bannan ripping us to shreds again.)

Thought Hayden was a step up on Varane myself, at least he looked forward..

It's being so happy that keeps me going.

Thought Hadyn was decent & Morgan showed in first 5 minutes of coming on what we'd been missing the previous 65 minutes, a Central Midfielder showing for the ball and trying to make things happen,

Unfortunately Morgan then made a few mistakes in possession but I'll always credit a player who shows for the ball & doesn't hide,

Without a Central Midfielder who has the desire to want the ball & run the game, or legs to run into space with the ball, we'll continue to play as we did today.

I think Hayden had a knock and was probably flagging a bit. Unfortunately Morgan had a bit of Vale-itis.

I thought Hayden played ok tbh. Certainly better than most today. At least he was mobile and covering ground, and trying to be positive. Rather him than Varane.

Technology advances, unfortunately humans do not.

All over the place every time we tried to develop something, nothing stuck, no control, nowhere near enough intensity, shit ref, comotose lino, out-thought and beaten far too easily.

Maybe try going all out to win every game in front of us, and rotate the squad as needed, rather than over thinking and overly dicking about with away gsme tactics, effort levels and personnel?

Awful performance and a awful game. The fact the norwich keeper was time wasting from about 25 mins onwards (whilst it was 0-0) says it all really. They barely had to do anything to win the game. They should be ashamed of themselves really after that, it was a pahetic effort. We must be one of the few teams in the league who dread sheff wed at home because we're a sh&t favourite.

Really poor today.
A lot of players who've been run into the ground and we don't have the squad to rotate them. Meanwhile other players have been rotated out of any sort of form or rythm.

Been poor since JCS went off at half time v Leicester. With just 2 in midfield we are v poor if we don't have anyone who can step up into the middle from CB

Pretty dreadful performance, Norwich looked like they wanted it more, felt like they had an extra man.

No player deserves any credit, Kone probably the lowlight for me way off the pace did almost nothing, fanbase definitely got carried away too quickly with him.

Heading for low/midtable as per usual but not good enough with this squad.

Played like Queens Park Strangers today.

Only two players that put in decent showings were Hayden & Mbengue. Rest of the team and the management staff - hang your heads in shame. That performance was totally unacceptable !!

I hate many of the imposters, we regularly seem to recruit to represent this club. Enjoy your very expensive cars, your very expensive lifestyles and your very expensive homes. Putting on that sh*tshow when fans are travelling in freezing conditions on our limited budgets to see this team play.

Stand up and be counted next time. Otherwise get your sideways moves out of here.

If players are reading, it looked like you werent trying.

Thats seriously not ok.

Well, at least that puts to bed any illusions about the play offs. We were second best for most of the second half, lacked energy and were too easily muscled off the ball. We do need to have a bit of sympathy for the team. Mbengue, Poku, Kone, Burrell have not played much or at all at Championship level before this season and Dembele, Morgan and Kolli are also pretty inexperienced. Madsen didn't show much last season so in some ways this is his first proper season and as others have said he needs a rest.

Playing 2 in the middle, nearly always Madsen and Varane, was always likely to see us over powered there at some point, something much debated last season but not really discussed this year. I thought Hayden was ok and Morgan a bit hyper when he came on, though he did manage one lovely through ball to Poku. Both are worth more time on the park in my view.

I wonder about the pre-season fitness work. Nourry said they'd upped this compared to last year, but I suspect Stephan had little to do with that. They don't look as strong as some of our opponents at the mid point of the season.

Although today was poor and we're obviously on a bad run with several players out of form overall this does feel better than the same point last year. But I am dreading Sheffield Wednesday.

Not one of our players should get more than a 3/10 for that heap of steaming shyte served up to a packed LR on New Year’s Day. Truly appalling ‘performance’. 1 point from 9 against Portsmouth, WBA and Norwich means Michel is now under huge pressure to get a result v Sheffield Weds on Sunday.

Scooters, Tunes, Trainers and QPR.

Lost it in midfield again. We need a player who can hold up the ball, not be easily dispossessed and bring others into play. Someone like Ilias Chair.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Morgan looked like a pub footballer when he came on .
Most of them did today . Missed our goal . Had enough at that stage .,
Norwich sh**housing was off the scale but unsurprising.
As for the pitch … just shocking for this level of football. An embarrassment.
