We’re all passionate about our team! Yes a 95th minute goal should decide it! But the game is not over. Stay off the F&@#*$G pitch. If you ran on, you let the whole club down, I would like to think we would have seen that through. But it galvanised the opposition and gave them a damn good reason to get a goal. Well done give yourself a pat on the back.

I can only echo that thought, big shout out and thanks to those idiots, gave them more time than the 90 seconds than they would have had. Bell ends the lot of you!

York fans ran on the pitch when they scored. It’s clutching at straws to blame fans from
running on the pitch. It was literally minutes to see out a game. I don’t condone going on the field but the playing staff did it the other week which is also not allowed. Not criticism there. There is more to it than fans on the pitch.

With 2 minutes to go those F'ing fans who invaded the pitch, cost us the game, the referee stop the game for around 5 minutes, giving York time to get organised. I hope they are proud of themselves.

Some are claiming the ball for the York goal never crossed the line, I would be interested in seeing the video of their goal.

I’m still not convinced it did but only have tv footage to go off. Happy to share but it’s all now irrelevant as is blaming the fans. This one has hurt more than any other dale game and there has been some painful ones. I have mentioned elsewhere that if we had been stuffed 4-0 it would have been more understandable/less painful than this.

Total bollocks to say the pitch invasion didn’t contribute , it gave york players time to compose themselves. Dale players were cramping the last thing they needed was three or four minutes stood around while they clear the idiots off the pitch.

York still may have scored, but i cant help that so called fans jeopardised our chance of promotion and thats a hard pill to swallow

Wouldn't blame the fans although obviously preferable if they stay put - natural reaction near the end of stoppage time that would have happened in most grounds. The goal celebration would have added on more time as with our game last Sat, plus the waiting time allowed us to reset and focus as much as it did York. We just couldn't see it out sadly.

Why wouldn't the additional break make the York players 'cramp up' too, our goal lived a charmed life all game the amount of times Stones was 1 on 1 was far far too often and unusually wasted all but 1.of them, on the play York fully deserved to win the game and the league, they've blown most teams away game after game and even today we created very very little against a really well drilled side that were far more forward thinking when in possession than the slow and methodical home side.

York were gone, couldnt even drag themselves off the floor, we had them beat, going on the pitch gave them a chance to compose themselves, brain dead supporters, one more minute and the pitch was there, should hang your heads in shame.

In various interview clips, some York players were saying they thought it was done. Maynard’s interview has the crucial event which was allowed to take place during all the commotion: their captain Howe came over to him and said there would be one more chance. Something subsequently mentioned by others as well. Time was found to spread the smallest bit of positivity.

Cause and effect. It might not have been THE reason we didn’t win the league, but it was one of them.

I having looked at other club forums, they all agree the fans who invaded the pitch costed us, in that it allowed York to get organised for one more chance. No doubt these fans are proud of themselves. There is also a debate on the forums if the York goal was in or not.

Mcnulty and the team was clearly devastated, but McNulty can sit them down, motivate them and say, two more games and we achieved our goal. At least the game is only a week off, whereas York last season had two weeks without a game, which may be a factor that cost York last season, but may benefit us. I just hope McNulty and the team can be focused for next week and get us into the final.

Not a blame post, more a point that could be noted for the playoff.

For 30 minutes of the second half, a large amount of people were able to stand in front of the U block before the pitch invasion.

This created the opportunity for a large invasion which could not be controlled. After the initial X went on, there was more waves as others saw they could do without being grabbed.

After most had left, a small number (20 or so) Dale fans remained in the TDS to see York lift the trophy. We were told we had to leave by stewards, then senior stewards, even though these people were a mum with 3 little ones, 2 old boys, a father and son around 10 year old and myself with two teenagers. There were more riot police stationed to manage us than deployed during the game.

I was informed that this was because they had been told to clear the stand before re-deploying outside which did make sense eventually logistically.

I don’t know what they do to stop this going forward. Eject anybody who stands in the concourse who won’t move? It’s hapoened v Spennymoor and repeated yesterday. 7 days to sort it.

To those in U block who sang their hearts out and stayed in U block. Awesome job

I had the same experience in the Main Stand of being told to leave whilst waiting to watch the presentation.

Sorry to hear that. We aren't great at 'fan experience' as a club. Thankfully the football on the pitch this season has masked the issues. Had we won yesterday, there would have been a presentation ceremony for the Dale fans in 3 full stands. So the stewards were being paid to be there for another hour in any case.

As for the U block. We commented on how poor the stewarding was looking at the bottom of that block. And the videos now show there were too few stewards in the only area of the ground where we might have expected issues. I really do hope we learn from this before Sunday. And the club have a lot of banning orders to organise this week. Surprised no statements have been made by the club last night.

The guys who run the U Block and Dale1907 social media accounts have the chance to make a real difference by commenting on what happened yesterday and asking fans to remain in the stands and away from the areas they shouldn’t be. I’d say the Trust too but they’d probably require a meeting and to check with the club first.

Make no mistake, yesterday will be looked at by police/club/safety advisory group and we could see areas of the ground unavailable for fans. This could be rows of seats at the front of stands like in the Willbutts.

Yesterday happened and those involved will know their actions have come at a cost, if only in how it’s been viewed by the football world. But holding up some hands and a commitment to change can go some way to righting the wrong and influencing what might happen going forward.

I think we'll recover, both the team and the fans, and be ready to go next Sunday

Firm believer in "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" and we didn't die yesterday. Plus: what's the alternative? York showed resilience after thinking they were champions until our last kick against Braintree. Yeah, not exactly the same but all this "we're cursed" nonsense (from others) is entirely counter-productive

Mental resilience is priceless

100% the pitch invasion is a HUGE contributing factor in allowing York to regroup as a group and have one last go…

Absolute bell ends every person (I can’t call them supporters) who went on the pitch.

Self entitled pricks …… the amount filming themselves for social media platforms and self gratification is an absolute embarrassment….

York had gone.. deflated.. knocked out.. the game was as good as won…

Congratulations to the minority dick heads spoiling yesterday for the majority.

Yeah, I totally believe there will be already a response happening within the club because of the collective experience they’ve all been through. Nothing to support this thought, only that they’ve already shown how they all have that resilience in spades anyway.

If there’s one group of players you’d want to attack a playoff campaign after what has happened, it would be this one.

The security firm who manage Spotland on a matchday are congratulating themselves for a job well done on their Facebook page this morning...

Meanwhile, another older supporter on Facebook is justifying his and others' actions for going on the pitch and attacking and goading York players and fans, because "10 backroom staff did it."

This is the mentality we're dealing with, unfortunately.

Problem is, it’s not against the law for coaches and subs to come onto the pitch. They might get a booking but it’s not even remotely the same.

Think there will be a lot of regret this morning because they’ll realise the impact of what happened. For that reason alone there’s a small amount of sympathy because it’ll stay with them for a very long time.
