That 10 May date only occurred to me yestetday. Didn't think it possible we could grab yet another last ditch goal but that cross from Pettit was the perfect ball and the finish so determined by a player who was struggling with cramp (as many were)
From there, it seemed impossible we wouldn't go on to win
Dale have just featured on the BBC news (London edition)
Yes. I think this must be one of the most significant wins in the club's history. Maybe the win at Crewe that meant we didn 't have to apply for re-election, may have held more existential significance but to find what it took to drag ourselves out of the quagmire of that division is just awesome. This could be the springboard for some really good times. Here's hoping UTD!!!

Well you couldn't have made it up. Football Gods repaying for the York game Gaining promotion may well change the thinking on the retained list.Got to decide who can step up into the EFL.Could be that one or two of the players may wish to stay at this level. Last of all a big Thank You to whoever decided that a young 17 year old Goalkeeper was the one for us a decision many of us had reservations about last August.Probably a day Ollie will remember all his life wherever and whatever level his career takes him in the future
It was amazing to see a loan player with such a connection with the fans too, some of his performances and maturity more so have been an honour to witness but that penalty save was genuinely world class not to mention his point blank saves during the game, an unbelievable end to a game after an even more unbelievable season for many reasons.
While I seriously doubted if Jim would ever have the mentality to get us over the line, yet he's produced a team with ridiculous togetherness that never ever know when they're beaten, nothing more than they all deserve.

I was at both. The first with my Dad watching my first season. Today with my son, who flew in yesterday from his home in Geneva. Two very happy days. With a few exceptions, too many grim ones in between.

Gomez Mancini was next to EEL at the presentation. Not sure who was on crutches, but I don't think it was Bilongo.

The morning after the night before. Absolutely knackered but what a day. Thought Borehamwood were excellent for 80 minuted and i was resigned to our fate. But a brilliant come back yet again. Just never gave up. The penalty shoot out was awesome, both the courage of those stepping up, and our keeper. What a bright future he has and thank you City for loaning him to us.
Special mention to Wembley and their staff who were welcoming and very organised.
Finally to Simon and team for pumping their life savings in to save the club...you deserved that yesterday. And of course the Ogdens for making it happen. What a Monday morning it is.

I’ve seen both too. My first Dale game was at home to Exeter in August 1968, an early 10th birthday present. All the hope that kills you was finally rewarded yesterday.

In the cold grey light of morning a lot of people deserve thanks because I’m not 100% sure that we could have done as well next season. You’d have to think that the likes of Carlisle, FGR, Southend and Scunthorpe will all be stronger next year amongst others. The Ogdens deserve our gratitude as does Simon Gauge. This is a bloke who had his address plastered across social media by Morton House/Southall; didn’t we abandon the traditional end of season lap of honour in 2023 due to alleged fears for his safety? Thank you to Jim and all his staff. I have to hold my hand up and admit that I was wavering after the Southend playoff defeat but he’s produced a team that the fans can admire. Thanks to all the players but especially those who have been around during all three seasons in the NL like EEL, Gilmour, East, Gordon and Rodney. And thanks to all the backroom staff and office staff who faced massive problems a couple of years ago when they didn’t know if they were going to get paid or indeed have a job. I have implicit faith in the hierarchy of the club to kick on from this success and reestablish Dale back in the EFL. The Academy can be restarted, sustainability can be achieved as part of long term strategy and Project 5000 is achievable. It was a long day yesterday but a memorable one.

Yesterday we showed we're fully together again and as wide awake as we've been in all the time I've been supporting this magnificent club. KG signing his contract would be the cherry on the top. Have to hold my hands up and say that after last season I was convinced we would never get promoted with Jim at the helm. Didn't think he was capable of making it happen in big games where the pressure was on. Well - this season has proven, on multiple occasions, that he can. So pleased for him, with his long connection to this club, and it makes it all the sweeter to know this was achieved by someone who has been there all through the dark times in the past few years and has such a personal connection to the club. I was obviously completely wrong to ever doubt him. He's earned his place as a Rochdale Legend.
Yesterday I felt we were second best for almost all of the game - they seemed to want it more and could easily have scored 3 or 4. We could have had no complaints. Even after the first goal I didn't feel confident we could score late again - felt like we had run out of luck with that one. I was even preparing to leave as soon as the final whistle went as I couldn't stand to see the dejection. Only for Mani D to turn up again. Those goal celebrations will never be forgotten. A mixture of elation and sheer disbelief. It was incredible. And to be stood behind the goal and have it happen down our end just made it all the better. Oli Whatmuff taking care of business with the penalties. What a player he is. Was my MOTM thanks to at least two saves during the 90 that I felt had to be scored. Then 2 saves in the shoot out. All that from an 18 year old who has been sensational all season. So pleased for Hendo to lift the trophy with EEL - another Rochdale legend who has only cemented his status as the GOAT. This season he's popped up when needed to keep us in the promotion race. A genuinely lovely group of players who have brought back a connection with the club that seemed lost just a few years ago. For all the crowd police talking about the attendance it felt fantastic to be in a packed Dale end at Wembley. Agree the Joey T chant going on and on was a highlight from me too. As was stepping out after the game and seeing the Rochdale badge and PROMOTED! all over the screens under the arch. So thankful I got to see and do it with all my family. Still can't believe it. UP THE DALE.

Those doubts were real, not being "wrong" but waiting for Jim McNulty to take that next step

There were always doubts. There are about any manager.
What was required was the club staying calm when things got a little bit sticky, realising teams will always lose football matches. The Ogdens did this in the second half of last season and could see the bigger picture required some patience. As it would have if we’d lost yesterday.
Emotions and mood can swing on moments. That last minute cross against Spennymoor? Defend it properly and we are at Wembley to win a trophy. That last minute cross yesterday? Boreham Wood defend it properly and we are looking at another season in the NL. Life finds a way.
Your points about the group are spot on though. It’s great supporting the players and management team we have. In years to come we’ll look back and realise how lucky we are to have experienced all the games over the last couple of years.
