I’d be interested to know where our released / ex-loan players end up for next season. Thought I’d set up this post for when anyone gets info or news they can post here. Wish them all well at their new clubs, no one on the list that I was relieved to see go.

I think the slide only showed around eight players in total, hopefully he and Edwards have signed new deals. On the club site, both Hendo and Edwards are included, so I may be reading to much into it, but hopefully it is a good sign.
But the club should make a statement either way.

My impression is that if Hendo was retiring or planning on taking up some other offer, he'd almost certainly have announced it by now
Who knows what goes on behind the scenes (and have we had some scenes recently!) but wouldn't surprise me if Cameron Ogden and Hendo have an affinity (business, lifestyle even) and mutual respect which creates a synergy whereby Hendo can benefit from staying exactly where he is

To be honest I thought that players like Pritchard and Smith would have found new clubs by now. Plenty of time yet of course.

One of the annoying aspects of McNulty leaving was that he got to decide who stayed and who didn't. Just as well he went to a club in L1, otherwise there's potential for conflict of interest there. For instance, releasing a player then (with a tacit agreement) signing him for a club in the same league
Obviously, not saying JM would've done this, just pointing out the potential for less scrupulous managers to exploit

No doubt Pritchard was a good footballer but there was a reason he was released by Oldham and also by Rochdale, he was very rarely fit enough to start games. He's had injury problems for at least two years, we would have been daft to sign up for that same scenario again. He's probably started less than ten league games in the last three years at MK Dons, Oldham and Rochdale. It's a shame but we can't become a nursing home for injured players, the same scenario with Mancini also. This season we have two very senior players in Hendo and EEL who will need to be managed in respect of minutes played. We also have Rodney who has suffered with illness and injury, he always needs watching. If we're running with a smaller squad and recruitment is limited to the transfer windows we don't need players who spend more time off the pitch than on it. If Watson is true to his word then fitness levels will have to be high, he's already said that the players are going to have to run a lot so we're going to need players who are capable of doing that. The evidence shows that Pritchard would find that impossible unfortunately.

My main point concerned the issue of a manager making potentially career-defining decisions when he knows he's on his way out. Even if the deal hasn't been done yet (and could therefore find himself remaining where he is) it just seems like a situation that wouldn't arise in any other business - which is what it is concerning contracts - especially when the board at the club (any club, not specifically Dale) will be aware of his imminent departure since the poaching club have to contact them before making an approach

The best ability is availability. Gomez-Mancini msy have been the 'best technically gifted player' in the league but barely featured. Players with a checkered injury history rarely change. With a smaller squad we cannot afford to carry passengers. We also need more pace, something that Hayes and Wilson bring.

That's a good point. If McNulty knew he was Stockport bound would he still act in the best interest of Rochdale Football Club...negotiating with Gordon for example? You could also include attempts to recruitment Watmuff in that conversation. McNulty, Done, Taylor all did what was best for them, not what was best for Rochdale AFC, and i think irrespective of the promotion at Wembley the Stockport job was already lined up for him and he knew it. County fans expected Challinor to move on. McNulty did a interview shortly after the win at Wembley and i thought the tone of that indicated his time at the club might be up, others have also mentiined they thought the same thing. I personally didn't like the way he indicated that there is another chapter for him still to come at our club, that's very presumptious and belittling. The club isn't a insurance policy for anybody should their career choices prove to be poor ones. Their nests were being feathered before the Wembley final i think, all of those mentioned probably knew they were Stockport bound. It's football though and you can't knock them for trying to climb the ladder.

Remember McNulty doing an interview in February sometime and thinking something was a bit off with him. If I was a betting man I'd lay odds on the Stockport move being a possibility for a while.
