It just screams 'let somebody else in the club have a go' and the job is much more important than that. There's never been a suggestion that Henderson wants to stay in football and go into coaching or management. He probably hasn't even got any coaching qualifications. He has a business outside football involving finance and property.
Whoever takes over has a big job ahead of them and recruitment over the next five or six weeks is going to have to be spot on, that means appointing somebody with experience and contacts i think. Preferably somebody who has managed at this level.
We can't afford for the budget to be wasted and then changing managers again in January, in a desperate attempt to avoid relegation. It worked with McNulty but this is no longer non league football and there will be very few games that we go into as favourites to win. I'm not bothered who it is if they come with the right credentials. It wouldn't even bother me if it was Karl Robinson or Steve Evans, we need a manager who is driven and will propel the whole club forward. Maybe Darren Ferguson fancies a long term project, he wouldn't be cheap but he's got loads of experience. Stockdale and Bentley both came across as 'nice people' but they were disasterous appointments. Those in the boardroom might see things differently, we'll have to trust their judgement. A manager who can oversee every aspect of the club is what we need i think as we move into a new chapter for the club both on and off the pitch. [Post edited 5 Jun 8:20]

KH was marvelous for us great times great players very entertaining..but its in the past.
Everything about the club has moved on..endlesly comparing Hill to McNulty is complete nonsense.
Id be surprised if Jim didnt take his backroom staff with him,
So we need a new manager with some experience at this level with a different approach and hopefully some smart recruitment |

What's the wait, why the hold up?
Until confirmed its all rumours, but it does seem more likely than not given the noise everywhere that Jim is off.
So, from our point of view surely a speedy resolution is to get it done, dusted, announced and move on. There was a lot to do (if Jim stayed) in terms of recruitment and maybe a few tactical tweaks to prep us for L2, so a new man (unless from within) would have it harder.
I wonder if Stockport are dragging this out to try and get out of any or as much compensation either for Jim, or any staff Jim is trying to take?
Surely serves us nor them no help in this thing being drawn out. I will be forever grateful to Jim, who served us to the best of his ability for years as a player, always clapped the fans and you sensed he is genuinely one of life's nice guys. And lastly for what he has brought this past two years as our manager, last season will live long in all our memories.
Football waits for nobody though, so if he is going just get him gone and we can then move on. Protracted disruption now is the last thing we need. |  | | |

I hate the player interview cliche “it’s taken a while to get over line”, but the suggestion at 14:30 yesterday was that he had already gone. Yet there seems to be radio silence from both clubs. Not keen on conjecture but just wonder if the back room staff arrangements are.holding things up. | | | |

Yes, i know. I mentioned his name in respect of his character, he's not everybody's cup of tea but he gets the job done. I think that's the most important thing, i don't particularly warm to Karl Robinson but if he can establish us in this league over the next couple of seasons i'd take that. | | | |

The difference between Jim McNulty 24/25 and McNulty/Taylor/Done 25/26 was there for all to see
If he goes to Stockport without them he'll lose that difference. Wouldn't be at all surprised if its a major sticking point

Hope we are digging in for adequate compensation and this might be the delay.
McNulty has been here for years and earned a good crust from this club....there were a couple of seasons when he barely figured in the team and his only visible contributon was a twitter post telling kids not to play on railway lines.
That said, I wish him well he did us proud and got us back to the Promised Land. Like all Daleys will watch his results with interest.

If he is going there (which he looks to be) That would be the worry for Jim, is he is replacing a manager that just missed out on getting them to the Championship who the fans liked and didn't want to leave. From the both the club and the supporter point of view that is a recipe for not being given a lot of leeway for a slow start. This is a time to build season for Stockport, this is get to the Championship to help ease the cost of building a new stand and updating an old one kind of season and that doesn't shout giving a manager time.
And as we saw with the style of play he likes in the beginning getting players up to speed and the system to work (admittedly in the worst financial and club circumstances with a lower standard of player) can lead to a lot of directionless pass it round the back and do nothing frustrating and boring football for a while, that will turn a crowd and a board that have had a lot of success recently. I don't know what the style of play Stockport have been playing or how much quicker League one players will pick it up so that could mitigate the risk of faltering performances.

I’d have major concerns for him if he does go there
Jury was out on the playing style for all of his time here pretty much.
Jim benefited from a patient fan base who understood where our club had been at its lowest and was grateful to just be existing.
There will be far higher expectations and honestly speaking I am not sure he’s cut out for it.
None of which is to say that I’m not hugely grateful for his tireless work ethic and the ultimate promotion, he’s a legend but I think he’d do better to stick with Dale otherwise he could find himself out of a role by January. | | | |
