York City Football Club can confirm that Stuart Maynard will be leaving his role as First Team Manager, with immediate effect.
This has not been an easy decision, and it is not one the board has taken lightly. Ultimately, it comes down to a difference in direction and vision for the football club.
We recognise that, from the outside, this may look like a strange or difficult decision to understand. But we believe that in the long term, the football club will be in a stronger position because of it, another step towards the vision we, as custodians of this club, believe will deliver sustained success.
Like every one of you, we love this football club, and we would never make a decision we didn’t believe was in its best long-term interests. We hope our track record of improving year on year has earned us a degree of trust, and we understand that not everyone will agree with, or fully understand, this decision right away.
We would like to thank Stuart for his contribution to York City FC and wish him well for the future.

Having people of the integrity of the Ogdens at Dale is an unbelievably great outcome of the latter, but let's not call what we have "lucky" - it was fought for, tooth and nail, and we deserve such an outcome

Spot on, i'm expecting to be banned from that forum today after offering them some free advice. As you suggested in a previous post, York fans are the most deluded and entitled fan base i've ever encountered, it's like they've lived in a time warp and the last fifty years of nothingness didn't happen. They view themselves as a big club when in fact they did exactly the same thing as us, got very lucky due to wealthy owners. Take those out of the equation and god knows where both clubs would be.

Bielsa make sense when you think about. Not in any realistic sense, but Leeds fans love Bielsa.
On a slightly related note I found out that someone at work is Salford City fan at work, but just a Salford City fan....not a Man U fan that doesn't go to games or a Bury fan that doesn't have a club anymore (Pub teams don't count). Sounds like they have had a fallout - maybe the club need to sell someone to cover the ownership legal action and he stamped his feet. I don't buy into the notion that the owners would allow Maynard to take the team to a training base in Spain last week if they intended to sack him a week later. A very good manager at that.
