| Refwatch - Huddersfield Town v Rochdale (EFL Trophy) on 14:04 - Oct 5 with 3704 views | EllDale | Be interesting to see who starts tomorrow especially in midfield where IW may have to start two from three of Gilmour, Adeeko and Francis which isn’t something that he probably thinks is ideal. | | | |
| Refwatch - Huddersfield Town v Rochdale (EFL Trophy) on 08:42 - Oct 6 with 3307 views | dingdangblue | Ethan Brierley should be playing for Huddersfield tonight. It will be interesting to see how he's playing since losing his way at Brentford. Noticed Huddersfield released on of our other ex-Academy players Peter Thomas at the end of last season - he'd been loaned out to Scarborough previously. The grass was definitely not greener for him after ditching us. | |

Wonder if Beckwith will be left back or CH? Hannant left back, Francis and Taylor midfield, Henderson 10?

If we go by the Liverpool game it might be Francis sitting with Henderson and Silcott-Duberry either side and Hayes and Hannant either side of Mani. Other option of Francis and centre back and Taylor sitting. Beckwith off at half time and Heyes not much after. Taylor being back helps with our options for Saturday.

Chance he could be off to NL? Bright start in this game first 10, good passing. It's quite a strong team we have out starting to be fair and I would expect (hope?) a few will be off at half-time whatever the score to give the youngsters 45min. And we concede... i'll shut up now. Hendo played them in for an early chance, Mani played them in for the goal haha. [Post edited 6 Oct 19:15]

Very possibly, along with the rest of the promotion winning squad if IW gets his way?

Unfortunately I just do not think he can cut it at this level. He is finding it difficult to compete physically.

What is surprising is you’d think he’d revel in a side getting in regular crosses. Missed the first half but the stats seem to indicate we’ve had most of the ball!

| Refwatch - Huddersfield Town v Rochdale (EFL Trophy) on 19:53 - Oct 6 with 2283 views | Edindale | Huddersfield are a class above and look threatening up front as well as being solid at the back. We are doing okay in patches but cannot hold the ball up front and have no cutting edge despite the possession. A goal might change things. | | | |

Have been very surprised by how aggressive their press has been, considering the competition. Impressed with Bradley that last 15 min of the first half.

Huddersfield so much quicker than us to transition from midfield to attack. We did have plenty of the ball but did precious little with it . Mani looks completely lost at this level. A move back to national league might benefit him and us.

Don’t see why it should knock any confidence in the seniors. The academy lads may be a bit shellshocked but the staff should be able to quickly manage that out of them. Was a useful game tonight. Minutes for some who need them., and more exposure for the academy players. As more players return from injury these type of games will be increasingly helpful. Must feel a bit odd for Brierley to be in a team inflicting a heavy defeat on the team he supports. But professionalism has to prevail. It may not be the last time it happens in his career.

Exactly.........the League is our only priority this season and keeping ourselves within it. These games do serve a purpose by bringing in new blood but also staying clear of anymore damn injuries,
| Refwatch - Huddersfield Town v Rochdale (EFL Trophy) on 08:57 - Oct 7 with 534 views | EllDale | The game itself didn’t really teach us anything that we didn’t already know. We’re really short of defensive cover. Sherring is much better at centre back than on the flanks. Tobi is a neat and tidy footballer but his first instinct when playing leftback is to pass sideways or backwards. I’m not sure how he’d cope if he was up against a Hayes type winger who ran straight at him. Hannant is not a fullback. Francis is a really composed footballer who can really knit a team together. Poor old Mani is really struggling. Feel sorry for him. If a more effective replacement could be sourced I wouldn’t be surprised to see him sold in the January window. NL teams looking for a boost must be interested if he was available eg Carlisle. He must be on a biggish wage as well. For the first half hour we looked pretty composed on the ball at the back; breakdowns only occurred when we tried to move the ball forward. Once they’d scored those two quick goals and the early subs were made it was effectively game over. Sorry for perhaps stating the obvious with the above. There are always pluses. Beckwith and Hayes got some minutes on the clock. The former especially must only have played the equivalent of two or three games all year. Bradley impressed. He’s a natural footballer. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him go out on loan if and when the troops are all back in the New Year. The other lads showed some nice touches but we’re by and large outmuscled. Huddersfield played some youngsters but theirs were 19 and a couple of years older and so better developed physically. | | | |

Did you mean Sherring is better at full back than centrally? It was his best performance on Saturday as a right back and last night saw some poor choices again back as a centre half. Not more so than standing there asking for offside (which it was) when they scored their fourth. Beckwith would be the cover at CH until EEL is back with both Tasker and TAR able to cover either full back position.
