We are dull, It's official. We play unimaginative and boring football. There's no point pretending anymore. We are just another football club now. Having matched us play a uneventful game today against Sunderland, I was left with a feeling of disappointment and frustration. There more questions than answers like what is our game plan without the ball, why can't we play a different formation and why o why is Nathan Dyer is starting?. We have no tempo, we have no style, we have no leaders, we have no character and we have no plan a let alone a plan b. I know people will say look at the table, look at our points tally and they may have a point but look at the football pitch. We have been lucky in lots of games this season. Burnley deserved atleast a point, how we got a anything from the Villa is still a mystery, we also didn't deserve anything from West Ham at home, Everton away and Sunderland away and that's not even mentioning last Sunday against Southampton. We are not special anymore, we don't play great football our even good football. We have become boring, boring Swansea City

It'll be like watching a Brodge side again. Monk still has a bit to do undoing the work of the previous manager who deployed wingers as inside forwards. When this is done we can expect to see that lovely free flowing pressing football again.

I thought the opinion of most was that he was trying to emulate Bren in such a Sousaesque way that had lead to this Chimera.

Free flowing is not a route it is a method of movement. Ask water

I am surprised Lisa is not here complaining of you using a slang term for female genitalia in a derogatory manner.

If she did she would have a good point

Perhaps you had a bad experience Darran

If I believed that Darran was being deliberately sexist then I would complain, however, he is not, he is simply swearing which he is often to be found doing. It's not a word I use, but there is really little difference between that and using any number of swear words that derive from slang for male genitalia.

Far better that than little snidey comments about my 'testosterone' simply because I have the temerity to disagree with you. Despite his frequent bad language, I have never found Darran to be in anyway sexist in his discussions on here and therefore, there is no reason that I see for complaint (from either men or women) other than a possible complaint for bad language which I must say, personally doesn't offend me enough to make comment.

1. We've also been unlucky in a lot of games this season.
2. It's not official just because you think something.
3. Dyer started because we only had 3 fit wingers, 1 of which was coming back from a long term injury. Dyer did fine too.
4. Tempo doesn't mean fast. You still "have a tempo" if you play slowly.

Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

Or possibly because it is not repeatedly aimed at you when even someone saying they are going to have a cuppa sets you off.

In case you are unaware testosterone is found in both female and male and is associated with aggression in either. I mentioned it because of the aggression with which you were repeatedly attacking me because I had the temerity to expose your lie to discredit Canas.

This included comments that would be offensive to those with mental health problems
falsely accusing me of making up crap
Saying my stats were incorrect - when they were precisely as clearly described

This constant attacking and snide comments is quite common to your approach when found out or if someone says something you don't like. Perhaps you are missing laying in to Shaky

If you think repeatedly calling a person by a derogatory term for female genitalia is fine given your attitude to other comments it says much. Thanks goodness Ched Evans didn't say it you would have had him hung.

I have to somewhat agree with the OP that our style of play seems to have become a little lacklustre and unimaginative.

We have definitely lost our fluid passing possession based style of play and I can't help feel that our game is going backwards at the moment... especially the last couple of months.

Are we doing well in the league because the overall standard of the league has dropped this season?

Not convinced at all at the moment, certainly not enjoying watching us half as much as I did in our first 2 seasons. Things began to dip under Laudrup and then Monk seemed to bring us back to life initially but things seems to be regressing at present.

Go through his post point by point mate. It's personal opinion garbage, using selective 'evidence' from the 'it's official' (it's not), right through to the 'we didn't deserve anything against XY and Z' ignoring all the times when we did deserve something and got nowt. His whole ethos harks back to some mythical golden age when we all came away laughing and skipping from the ground every time after dazzling displays of wonderful world beating shimmering football.

Its simply an anti Monk post dressed up as something else. I'm quite happy to roast Monk if he deserves it, but this is simply old wine in new bottles. Don't you think that we looked very much like the Swansea of Rodgers and Laudrup for much of that game yesterday? Mind you, I remember loads moaning then too...we've been 'found out', there's no plan B? Etc etc. THe OP was happy after the 0-2 Newcastle game was he? Disingenuous crap. No one I saw after that game was anything more than miserable and moaning 'we've been rumbled'.

Honestly, you're a sensible bloke, do you really think that OP has merit? I don't, and I couldn't give a toss who manages us, nor do I think that we can't improve. Do you really think we've 'lost our identity'? It picks out all the negatives and ignores the 'positives', in his world, like when we battered Totty, one of the form teams in the PL, and lost. People were moaning like f*ck then too.

Didn't you enjoy the game yesterday? I thought it was quite a good tactical battle where we had to try and better a very organised side that are draw specialists.

It's his personal opinion and he has tried answering those who counter him, which is what this forum is all about shirley? He wasn't abusive to anyone and i don't think it was anti monk type post. More of him this board needs. I don't think it has warranted comments like shit thread etc, no need for it. If it was Warwick or someone else, the majority of those who has directed that nonsense towards the OP would just have steered clear of the thread because Warwick is a decent bloke, despite his low opinion of Monk.

Did i enjoy the game yesterday? Not particularly. There was no rhythm or tempo to it, for the most part it was disjointed with plenty of huffing and puffing but not much else. We created more than we have in the past few months, but nothing to write home about. It was better aye, but nowhere near the stuff we played under Rodgers or Laudrup as you alluded to.

And for a shit thread, it was going along nicely until Darran and Spratty have started their nonsense and interspersed with Perchy's nothing posts. Oh and Dav chipped into the OP with his pseudo intelligent bollox.

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion just as everyone else is entitled to either agree or disagree with it. My opinion is that the OP has very little merit and virtually no basis in fact.

No problem with that, and you tried to counter his original post, but what would you rather see on this forum? Posts about the actual game, tactics etc, whether you agree with them or not or posts from Darran containing photo's and no actual opinion on the game (other shit threads are applicable, not picking on his specifically but they stand out)? I know what i'd rath

I quite enjoyed the game yesterday.

I thought we looked nicely balanced in midfield for the first time in a while, but I thought the 'disjointed' bit came from our wing play where neither Dyer nor Barrow did anything much in the first half particularly, albeit that Dyer looked a lot better when switched to the right and particularly when Angel came on. Incidentally, when Angel did come on, I thought our balance at full back looked the best we have seen it this season - Naughton can actually cross the ball which is a huge improvement from what we have seen from our full backs for ages - I really like the look of him so far. Quick getting back as well.

Ki was fantastic and showed how much we've missed him this last month. Gomis for me was on his heels too much - in the second half there were a couple of occasions when Dyer put in crosses to good positions, but Gomis was hanging back and not gambling at all. All in all, as I said, I enjoyed it. With regard to the thread itself, it's difficult to get past that nagging feeling that it was started by someone we all know too well hence some of the reaction to the initial post.

What you mean those same changes brenden rodgers made to his team and that have dominated football the last twenty years. Why look for space on a football pitch or drag the opposition out of position for someone else. When you can just make it easier for the guy marking you and stand in the same place.

The OP (whoever he or she is) has some valid opinions. One or two posters even managed to actually discuss them...
Shame about the usual knee-jerk arse dribble from the others though. Fancy someone having the temerity to discuss our style of play on a football forum...

Boring? Maybe that's the wrong word but we're arse-numbingly predictable at the moment and not much fun to watch. I'm not averse to grinding out results when required but we have the capacity to be so much better.

I can't see any excuse for sitting back and inviting pressure after going ahead against teams we should be putting to the sword.
