A welcome return for a much loved manager or
booed as a Beale like lying deserter ?

I might clap him first half then boo him for the second

You could offer them to other ex managers and we could have quite a reunion and
Multiple threads !

It would be like the ex presidents from Point Break - without the surfing and bank robberies.

Iain Dowie turned me down, on account of being named as one of the most dislikeable players and Magilton told me to erfk off or he'd drop me one on the bonce

Rejected by Dowie….something for the tombstone engraver or a special award. Not sure which is most appropriate !!!

I miss Marti, like I still miss Warbs. Both men of integrity. Set a professional standard from the off and didn't accept anything less. Those are the sort of people you want managing and coaching a team.

No one besides who were involved fully know what happened in Marti gardening leave so for me his character stays intact. Nourry certainly hasn't improved in this area of club management.

Marti inherited an absolute shit show when he arrived and steered it clear which was an absolute miracle.

If I was at LR on sat I'd definitely applaud. I've very much warmed to JS now but it took a while cause I was so QPR'd that we again messed an opportunity to go further with a good manager at the helm.

But....... This game means much more than it normally would. JS needs to be on his A game and I truly hope we put in a decent performance and a win to show we are moving in the right direction.

Nice one. Perfectly put.

A good manager, but there will be plenty that would certainly say Warburton was not a man of integrity.

There was the whole thing around Andre Gray, Les Ferdinand, and the Covid test and from a personal point of view leaving a empty place on the bench a YT player could have filled to try and make a point was a bit unethical.

Plus a few rumours Clive's legal team would advise me to not mention.

Thought Marti did a great job, getting us out of a right hole after the Beale, Critchley and Ainsworth debacle. I always liked Warburton think he improved standards at QPR and the football was good. I never really subscribed to all this plan b stuff, we just ran out of steam and there was obviously politics going on behind the scene. A Eustace/Warburton coach and director would I think have taken us forward, but it was not to be. With Julien starting to warm to him, we do have a much better all round squad this season and so far the important focus on getting playing well and winning at home has started to happen, we are still lightweight away from Loftus Road, but when was it never thus, not good travellers in my opinion the Rangers, the focus needs to be on winning at home and building on that, because far too many teams have come to Loftus Road in last 10 years and pulled our pants down regularly. This season only Ipswich have really done that and maybe Millwall, although we could have drawn that game.

Five home wins and four away wins, so far and two draws from each.

Before Hull it was two wins at home and three away.

Not too much difference really but losing the third game of a week away from home on the last three occasions, whilst winning our last three on our own patch has skewed the impression recently. Our home form had been dreadful for a long time before that.

Think we're ten points better off than this point last year, but we've lost the same amount of games.
The difference is basically we've got Burrell and Kone up front this time so we can turn draws into wins. Last year we had Celar and Frey.

We've lost one more game than the same stage last season.

2024/25 - 18th after 21 games

P- 21 4-10-7 Goals 21:27 Pts 22 GD -6

2025/26 - 9th after 21 games

P- 21 9-4-8 Goals 28:33 Pts 31 GD -5

So with roughly the same number of defeats and goal difference JS has got us nine more points and nine places up the table. The man's a magician.

Lots more goals at both ends so it's not dull.

I still look back to that year we didn't have a single striker on the books.

It's taken years to address that, with several false starts or stop-gap loan solutions. Without goalscorers, every good performance is really just creating the conditions that might lead to more goals than the opposition and hoping for the best.

If anyone was a miracle-worker, I reckon it was Cifuentes and it's why I still have time for him.

OTOH I think we have to give credit to Nourry for finally sorting the striker problem, and for whatever reason Cifuentes couldn't work with him, so [shrug]

There's no need for opinions when we know the results.

At the moment we're 11th in the away table and 13th in the home table, which all suggests much of a muchness. Four away wins before Christmas is a better return than a fair few previous seasons.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Short memories. The guy who saved us from relegation the first season fair enough. But then did his damndest to relegate us the second season (twice). Who presided over Oxford, Middlesbrough and Cardiff (twice) last season. Who managed not to win games against 10 men on THREE separate occasions. Classic case of improving with his absence

Harsh. More on the players who missed the chances, played poorly and couldn't break down the opposition. No goals scored against the ten men.

Small consolation, we didn't concede any to 10 men either, which suggests 'parking the bus' and/or see above.

The 'Marti saved us' narrative is overstated, much like the line about Stephan not understanding the league. Marti saved us as much as Ainsworth saved us from Beale.

There's a bit of group think going on here.

Last thing I will say about Marti, his song was f*cking awful!

No. I don’t. That’s a pretty dumb straw man you’ve created there.

I simply think that the statement that “some of the worst football” you have ever seen was played under him is ludicrous. When positing why you might say such a thing, the obvious answer is you’re too young to have seen much other football, or you’ve only been around watching Rangers for a few years, or you (not me or anyone else) has a personal thing against Cifuentes.

I didn’t say anything about pro/anti Cifuentes being split along generational divides.

Wweird thing to say and righly mentioned in replies ,the football this season hasnt been great either , more goals yes but way more goals conceeded as well

I mean, that can be proved wrong just by looking at the scores.

Come on, that's just silly.

Ainsworth took over a team that had been top of the league in October, winning nine of its first 16 games. He won three out of 13 games in charge, losing eight.

Cifuentes took over a team that had won two of its first 16 games and was six points adrift in the relegation zone in October. He won 13 of his 30 games including 8 of the last 14.
