Great report Clive. Big respect to the Wednesday fans for making the trip and getting behind their team. Love that they joined in the Hi Ho Silver Lining song at the end, just to try and remember what a win felt like. Fair play to them. As you said, no fans deserve what their scumbag owner did to their club.
As for us, watching our players go down was like the first 20 minutes of Saving Private Ryan, except the beach in Normandy was in better shape than our pitch. |  |

Among several misjudgments that JS has made over Christmas the continued selection of Varane has, to me, been right up there with the best of them. Despite having, as you say, all the physical attributes, it is clear that he’s just not that good at football. I also think his injury was much more to do with the fact that he tried to tackle using the wrong leg rather than the pitch.
Field did well when he came on but I really hope Morgan gets a run in the side. He’s been very patch to put it mildly but I’m sure he’ll get better the more minutes he gets, especially if played in midfield because a defender he ain’t. [Post edited 5 Jan 20:56]

As you say, that was a very strange watch. We were saved by a strong speculative smash by Kolli. When you watch it back his shot was little more than a well-struck ‘get something on target’ but thank God it went in. The next one was a bonus!
Up until then all I could see was a SW equaliser.
You won’t see it sitting in the SA, but there is a huge mobile heat lamp stored in the Loft entrance….i can only assume that we can’t afford to plug it in as the pitch is shocking. Or maybe we have a very poor head groundsman?
Also I read that we are trying to move on Frey - can that really be the case now? And if it is then surely they must have another striker lined up to join.
As you say the festive season has taken all of the air out of our balloon. I just hope we’re allowed some kind of fun next Sunday?! |  | | |

I doubt there will be any rethink about playing 4 games in 10 days. The darlings of Sky and the EFL, Wrexham, won all four games so expect this farce to continue for years to come. |  | | |

I too have given up on Varane. In the 25th minute (mental note taken), he had the ball on the edge of their box with 6/7 players up in support,in and around their 18 yard box. He duly turned around, trundled back to the half way line, then passed it back to our keeper. Just wtf are you doing?
I have taken pelters on here for admitting to being pleased he may now miss a few games having hobbled off. So be it, for me we have 3 far superior midfielders sat on the bench and I include Morgan in that trio. Morgan may be partial to the occasional brain fart, but he is progressive, brave and reads the game well. Basically everything that Varane isn’t.
The likelihood of now seeing more of Field, Hayden and Kolli is perhaps the refresh this side badly needed. Adding the elusive Chair to that list would also be greatly welcomed.

Great report and very interesting on Dumbele there as something I didn’t see on the stream in respect petulance and Captain Dunne being a captain.
He hides for huge periods of games quite well so no idea why he can’t hide his upset.
Not a player I’m ever going to take to I think, shame as watching him in his debut versus Plymouth from my seat in Ellerslie my thoughts were “we’ve got one here”. We do but not what we were all hoping for.
Poku - repeating myself again here. I said ages ago I’d be shocked if he made double figures for 90 minute appearances for us this season. I’m not expecting to be shocked.
If he’s signed a four year deal then I’d be amazed if we get 50 full games out of him across that Contract.

Not the worst Dominic Iorfa - made me chuckle.
Wednesday are indeed proper pony, due to well versed reasons, but many (most?) in the ground fully expected us to throw it away before Kolli did his stuff. Doesn't say a lot about us really - either the fans confidence in the team, or the teams confidence in themselves.
I can't make it to West Ham on Sunday as I'll be in the US but when the draw was made and I realised I couldn't go I was gutted. Now, not so much. It will be very interesting to see what side we put out and what effort is put in especially after Nourry's reference to it in his New Year message.

- As pointed out, and evidenced in the reverse fixture, QPR were begging for 1-1, until Kolli stepped up. Yes I am rooting for him and as pointed out in his appearances at the end of last year, he puts in effort! He tracks and he works hard up front. In his 1st goal he was involved in the build up. He combined well with Kone and I think that bodes well for what may come later.
Regarding Varane: I would venture to say, his lack of forward play is as much coaching/instruction as anything. Forward (in this capacity) is to find GK or Madsen. I do think Field could well get more minutes in Varanes role. [Post edited 5 Jan 22:39]

Superb report usual humour combined with the truth of where we are right now.
We pulled 4 points out of 12 (bitterly disappointing IMO) but worse still was the performances over these games pretty shocking truth be told .
The QPR duo behind the mike on coms were getting worried Wednesday would get back level which would have been very bad but Koli came through .

I said to my brother 30 seconds before Kolli scored his first "I was expecting a bit more from Rayan today with this opportunity" - A real commentators curse.
However I was delighted for him and weren't they great finishes. Hopefully he can stay fit now and really grab the opportunity that lies ahead for him. Maybe move Kone to the nine and have Rayan playing off of him.
Anyway at least we salvaged something from the Christmas disaster. I told the kids on the way home don't be too disappointed we are making progress as we are no longer looking over our shoulder at the Portsmouth and Oxford results and for now continue to look up the table.

Well yes here's hoping Field gets a start at West Ham, we'll need him.
Expect Kolli will also definitely play a part but wonder how many minutes he can actually do. I suppose JS could start with Kone up top and then maybe add Morgan to midfield and get him playing further forward. Must be too soon for Chair to start.
Dembele shouldn't be anywhere near the team with that attitude. If it was me I'd get rid this month and replace with someone better.
Good news is that by the summer Ben Williams will have the players primed and ready for the Tour de France. |  |
