Didn't realise he'd gone to Gateshead. Did they pay a fee?
Free transfer on an 18 month contract. I do think there’s a player there, but now isn’t time for someone learning on the job and he needs games to improve, something which will always be difficult here.
Thought Gateshead were way better than their league position suggests. Would put them in the same category of Morecambe as a team I expect to climb up the table and take some points off the promotion contenders.

Southend fast starters as we have seen before. York fast finishers as this season has shown numerous times.
0-1 could easily become 2-1 in the blink of an eye.
Cardwell had an impacting 3 mins...booked on 28 mins, scored on 31 mins and then straight off injured calf. Parrillon has been good for the Shrimpers......
York "are a 2nd half team, nowt to worry about"

Carlisle fans going after their team and manager again.
Savage all over the place in his post-match interview again. (there’s a good argument that he’s the worst person to have at the helm of a club looking for promotion)
Rochdale fans, team and manager keeping their heads after the odd blip.

You'd think Carlisle had lost 4-0 reading their messageboard. York's diving tells the story of why Pearce gets so many penalty goals.
Savage losing his head is one of my favourite parts of all their losses. He tries to take personal credit for everything good that happens but loves to throw people under the bus when it doesn't go his way. When Macc beat Palace he was trying to give them credit but had to make a point about Dawson being a player he brought in and how he was their best player. Horrible man, bang average player, hopefully a failure as a manager. [if he ever comes here and does well I will take this all back and will worship him like a god like a good little fickle football fan]

York have now drawn two out of their last four. Both draws as a result of late equalisers. One of their wins was an injury time winner. Whilst we continue to focus on our own business, we will benefit from mini-runs of “poorer” form over the Pennines.
Would take a Carlisle win on Wednesday to continue that.
Southend should've snatched it in the end if Scott-Morriss had put a better ball across the 6 yard box for a tap in. A draw is a decent result for us though.

Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10
Of the new guys. I thought MD Mk2 looked great today, he's got skill, strong and good on the ball, and his finish was excellent, a well-timed execution that gave the keeper no chance. Another shrewd recruit for Jimmy, it's great, he has the knack of bringing in players who fit. It does help for new players with have had a nomadic career I think, coming into to a welcoming dressing room with good grounded characters who've been here a couple of years with good souls like Ebanks, KG, TAR.

Manny D's finish for his goal was excellent. Agree with Jim he should have had 3.
Perry was very solid, but he will have tougher games.
Bilongo was hard to judge. Looks fast and he's tall so could be a great target on the touchline for Whatmuff at times a long ball may be needed. Completely different option.
Whatmuff returning looked to completely settle the defence. I rated Broome but young Oli really does look like he is going to be some player.

Agree
After Amantchi, it was definitely worth taking a punt on the side of experience. As you say, coming into a settled system and having the chance to finally achieve something after travelling all around the houses is something he should relish
His goal today will have helped settle him: he's made a contribution already, no need for nerves going forward

I'm with you on that.
Perry fitted in well without standing out. But it's good that fans from his club rate him. Lots of tests ahead in February, a critical month.
Bilonga looks strong, protects the ball and has energy. Early days for him, and hopefully he gets to gel more with the team. He's only been here two minutes, though and is learning our game.

I thought Amantchi had his best game for us yesterday. the way he smashed his point blank header onto our cross bar was a great piece of defending🤣🤣. We got away with one there, it was easier to score. It was a decent display yesterday under the circumstances. I think we're going to have to be on it a bit more against Solihull though, they will take those two clear cut chances that Gateshead passed up. We need to also be more clinical in the final third. We need the original Mani D back and also Pritchard and Barlow in the squad.

Yesterday was just what we needed, win away, clean sheet, plenty of players getting game time, new arrivals slotting in very well and a win following a loss. I was surprised the Whatmuff is back. I honestly expected a recall and for him to be loaned out to a league club, ssshh. The last ten minutes of games in this league yesterday are an illustration of why I love this sport. Always something for fans to cling to. Now I know we have a lot of games on the horizon, but I would urge BJ to go with his strongest 11 available, and just mix the bench against Solihull. There will be better opportunities to change things up later on this hectic run of games. So far I am loving it. UTD

Great win, Gateshead had their chances but truthfully we should've put the game to bed a lot sooner - (a slightly worrying trend). Great goals the 2 we scored but I'm still not quite sure how Duku didn't put that one in on the line - he didn't show any desire to jump and head it in to the open goal? How he let the defender clear is baffling.
