To be fair, they've travelled through Essex, Cambridgeshire and Lincs, so it's hardly surprising their performance was flat.

I agree, a signature win, that indicates we can come out on top when it really matters

Our support was brilliant, and recognised by the players and BJ at the end

Most pleased of all for the Ogdens. The input they've made to the club deserves to be rewarded

Such an important 'statement' win. We've not done it at home with Jim and this team so that's a massive moment. It was our first game in hand too so to win it is so important because apparently points on the board are much better than games in hand - well we have 3 more points on the board and still 2 games in hand on York so stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

KG interviews superbly every time. He articulates what this squad is about so eloquently and with an enthusiasm that would win the most cynical Dale fan over. After he has proven his words on the pitch as an individual and team player. Magnificent all round.

Joe Pritchard - you beauty!
Yes its not all about one person but his contributions last Wednesday in the 94th minute and last night in the 90th has almost singlehandedly gained us those 4 points extra we need to be above York going into that final game.

A statement win. Whilst we did not create lots of chances we played with endeavour and recovered well after their goal. We had the desire and composure to keep playing and in the end we took our chance.

I thought we nullified them and outside of a few long throws they did not really threaten. Moss did help to keep Scott Morris quiet, as did Burger who worked tirelessly until he ran out of steam who helped to support him defensively down our left.

I suspect over the next few games there will be different teams, with players playing different roles. Moss and Burger in from the cold tonight, who will it be on Tuesday. A special mention to Gilmour whose technical game has improved no end. When we did play through the press it was noticeable the space him and East had to run with the ball.

A week now to get ready for three vital games. Three wins could see a gap open up and put the pressure firmly back onto York.

Gilmour is becoming more and more instrumental in our performances in the same way as Gary Jones was over the years. Tenacious and aggressive and he drives the team on, he's also popping goals in. I see a lot of similarities and that's the highest accolade i can give him.

I watched the game on DAZN, so I had to be content with the camera following the ball rather than seeing the whole game, but there you go, better than nothing. Firstly, well done for taking all 3 points out of that one, I honestly thought that both teams were happy to settle for a point until our keeper gifted you your second. We were totally lacking any steel in the middle, and as a result, it was one way traffic in the second half, nevertheless, I didn't think you looked like scoring until you did. There's been a bit of humour about the team travelling a lot, but we did look leggy last night, especially Parillon, who was blowing out of his arse after an hour. Against York he scared the shit out of them. Pointless whinging though, as you are now top and we have to chase Halifax. See you at Roots Hall, where it will be an interesting return. I'm back off to our board now , where the Maher out brigade are gaining a head of steam.

Cheers. Yes we created next to nothing in the 2nd half - your keeper having nothing to do till the 90th minute (lucky for you) but I did say at ht our bench could be the difference and that's how it panned out. When you can bring on Allarakhia,Dieseruvwe and Pritchard they created that 1 chance we needed. Good luck - you are a tough nut to crack as we found out last season - you should make the play offs if you can get a keeper.

The league table is now starting to look interesting as some teams approach the final third of their fixtures. Looking at our games in February it's almost like knock out football for us, everytime we beat one of BW, FGR, Carlisle, Scunthorpe it becomes very difficult for that team to catch us up when you look at the points differential and our games in hand. Drawing keeps them at arms length but that seriously plays into York City's hands, that's what they want us to do. The onus is on us to win and last night was like a dagger to the heart of those associated with York City, we need to do that again and again.

So the mentality of thinking that a draw against those clubs isn't bad is completely wrong in respect of wanting to win the league. I'm assuming McNulty and his coaches and also the players are fully aware of that. The sole focus in every game is to win it, a draw is two points dropped. The late goals at Solihull and last night are like Gold dust. The chasing pack apart from York are vying for a play off spot or a third place finish now i think and that means they are probably going into their fixtures with more pressure than us as their games start to diminish.

What did suprise me in the games against Solihull and last night is that the opposition didnt start with a more attacking approach..seemed over cautious,,Hartlepool went fr us from the kick off and they were worthy winners.

The last minute goals in both games turned 2 points into six..be interesting to see our next few opponents FGR Boreham approach from the start.

Agree with everything you say-as usual.

We cannot plan for 90th minute winners-however welcome. We (Jim) need to be brave.

One thing astonishes me. Not one mention of the captain on this thread. He is the lynchpin to the whole operation and has returned from injury to his brilliant best.

Remember this is the guy who brought on the 17 year-old George Nevett to play 17 games, and the 22 year-old Kyron Gordon to play over 80 games for the Dale so far. Both were inexperienced up to that point. Now Perry looks to be heading in the right direction. That must have needed a lot of patience, good humour and devotion to duty.

No wonder Jim is treating hm with care. He knows how important the role of centre-back is. I dread to think what would happen if he was out.

What is the yellow card situation? I have lost track.

Somebody was explaining to me last night how a draw against the teams chasing us is a good point because they haven't made ground on us and have one less game to play. He had completely ignored the fact that we are in a battle with York to win the league and winning games is the priority, not drawing them.

Last season in our 0-4 defeat to York, it was noticeable how their midfield duo of Hunt and Felix were a cut above Gilmour and East. That evening it was York that bossed the midfield.

This season East and particularly Gilmour seem to have tightened up technically - neither hardly ever gives the ball away, first touch is always on point, passing is always crisp and accurate. Both are incredibly consistent in this regard.

I've been a critic of EEL in the past but since his return from injury he has been a model of consistency. The whole defence has been great and Perry is a fabulous young player, a real talent.

1. Totally get opposition manager to change team
2. Score from 2 chances and defend like trojans
3. Possess the most lethal attack in the division (and many teams in division above too)
4. Get opposition to play home game away. Then blitz them.

These are the ‘tactics’ chosen by opposition managers to beat Dale so far, it’s not surprising that others are trying the Halifax tactic really, and for 94 minutes it nearly worked.

I’ve seen your posts on the York forum. And the condescending dismissive replies and comments from their fans about Rochdale. How Rochdale are going to collapse, how Rochdale aren’t even that good, how Rochdale need to win every game, the astonishment that a team like Rochdale could be outperforming the mighty York. Even one post from one of their fans referring to Rochdale as “joint top”.

I can’t stand the arrogant, muggy, tosspots.

Hope Rochdale can see it out and win the league. And then York get spanked in the playoffs by Southend.

Yes, they're a smug, arrogant, entitled bunch aren't they..like big kids really. Still smarting from that good hiding Latics gave them in the Play Offs. Congratulations on your Play Off Final win by the way, you thoroughly deserved to win them.

Yes we can only look at us and York at the moment. Certainly until either one of us slips up and drops off the pace. Those 2 late goals by Dale last Wednesday and last night must have felt like a dagger in their hearts. They could've been 2 points ahead of us now and not 2 points behind. All eyes will be on Solihull now on Saturday to see how they respond.

Could well be the influence of Jason Taylor, always very tidy when he played for us

Might have them doing drills in training involving first touch, general awareness of space and crisper passing

Coaching already decent players to get better is one way of improving morale and affinity with the club

Yeah, we’ve won as many games as we have by prioritising taking three points every time. That’s why we shouldn’t change and think we don’t have to win every game in hand. Keep the same mentality and consider every game as important as the one before.

It might be we do get some good points in draws as the season goes on, but that’ll be after the game rather than thinking “we’d take a point in that one”

Actually think the team maybe have greater faith in themselves than fans, but that’s definitely changing.

Correction- George Nevitt played 32 games alongside EEL.
