I think Pettit will be getting more starts, more gametime. We'll need a more solid base to our midfield in L2 and he provides that, whilst having a goal threat from outside the box - talking of which, i think we'll be seeing more efforts on goal

Looking forward to it. Settling into the new league will do for me next season. It will probably be the second season when Watson gets the team that he wants and can be properly judged. I'm hoping there's a emphasis on signing players with a possible sell on value further down the line. We need to start doing that again now, Hill was a master of it. |  | | |

Always thought he was an exciting player and a bit of a handful.

A good move for him. National League is probably a level at which he can play regularly and make an impact. I am not sure he is consistent enough to play at a higher level. A local team will also be good for him logistically. I wish him well. |  | | |

Growing older like all of us. Nearly a full season out injured will make it a big gamble for anybody, even on a free transfer. I hope we refrain from signing anybody with a recent history of long term injuries and stop with this sickly ambition to keep trying to sign ex Dale players because of emotional attachment. We aren't a insurance policy for ex players and managers who decided they wanted to jump ship to futher their career. Sign players on ability alone and not because they were decent years ago and used to play for us. [Post edited 26 Jun 21:12]

I'm not so sure. Femi Seriki who played one National League season here at left back was rubbish I thought, but has since gone onto be virtually ever present for Sheffield United playing over 60 times.
On the other hand Perry played half a season here and was excellent. I wouldn't be surprised to see him knocking on the door of Coventry's first XI.
I think Rhys Norrington was another Sheffield United left back loaned to us who did well, and then appeared much higher up the food chain the season after perhaps for Luton and Sheff Utd. |  |

I can see Stockport signing Perry on loan, in that it is about developing him and a season at league one level would allow this. I would love to see him back at the Dale, but I doubt it will happen.

Is it significant that Humbles played for Gateshead when Carl Magnay was manager there? The latter will know him as well as anyone. | | | |
