Charlie Kelman’s Leyton Orient 12:00 - Feb 8 with 96136 viewsDannyPaddox

Up against Man City in the FFS that was offside FA Cup. I prepare to stand corrected but I think Charlie is still our player but as I take as much interest in modern football players contracts and transfers as I do in mobile phone contracts I could be wrong. Either way seems like a good lad and having a decent season with a club I like so up the O’s!

Up against a central defender today in Ruben Dias who’s worth approx £75 mil … would love to see Charlie meg him.

I don't know about 30, but for a player whose goals scored have all come wearing other teams' shirts, a 17 page thread - and counting - is good going!

Although we're nearing the end of the season, he's in with a real shout of reaching 20 pagers; which would be phenomenal going for a player out on loan.

Indeed, and with no disrespect intended toward those who actually played for the Rangers this season, Charles must be in with a shout of our POTY.

Probably as much to do with the dearth of available strikers this season as Charlie's exploits.

Let's just finish this nonsense here

He will be at Rangers next season. The end.

If he isn't, even for QPR, that's up in the top three of stark raving bonkers decisions

Anyone who doesn't want him here next season or doesn't think he will be, I would suggest a long lie down in a darkened room

Charlie Kelman QPR squad member 2025 /2026 - might even update Wikipedia- it's 100% certain.
[Post edited 13 Apr 11:20]

Conventional wisdom says so but I'd throw in a couple of caveats:
- Does he fit into the manager's preferred style and formation?
- Charlie's current contract runs to 2026. Is he prepared to sign another extension?

The second question is key as having been farmed out on loan the last 4 years, Charlie may feel his future lies elsewhere (particularly if Leyton Orient get promoted). If he doesn't extend his contract this summer then QPR would be wise to cash in whilst his stock is high.

What’s the going rate for a 25 goal
Striker in league one ?
2.5 million. So QPR that . Our two biggest assets don’t even play for us .

Kone was going for like £7 m before Wycombe pulled the plug?

Really depends on the length of his contract

If he goes for 200-300k means we know he would soon be gone for free. If the club seeks 2-3 m then perhaps a year left with another year option? (Fat hope - we know we are not allowed nice things / if we are Bristol city he would be gone for at least 5 m to another champ club)

In any case, he should really be given a real chance, not 10 consecutive 10-minutes bite-part sub games.

Perhaps he wanted to stay? Maybe that’s why he signed an extension? And the plan was to be loaned out to prove his worth in a league below with consistent first team games, not unlike chair, Eze, Dieng loans, maybe?

Nothing is ever 100% certain at QPR. Even for a striker with four goals in a week and eight in his last six games.

David McIntyre has said in each of the last two West London Sport podcasts that he suspects Kelman will be sold.

DM doesn't get much wrong. But given our lack of senior strikers and Kelman's hot form it would be very strange if we didn't at least take a look at him next season to see what he can do.

If that does happen, it needs to be for a very inflated fee and also before he is sold, we need to know exactly who we are going to sign in his place and it needs a pre signing contract for us to secure that player or players.

WLS are never the most happy of people so predictions are fuzzy but when information is known, they are usually the most accurate

I think if we did sell, it could be a total dumb ass decision though !!

It’s OK, rising strikers, in form, are 10 a penny and can be bought for peanuts - especially when their on good form (even if it’s in a lower league or foreign league).
And he would have to drop his goal scoring tally by 65% to be our top scorer for the season too.

We should offer him a new contract. If he signs it will increase his value and give us a chance to have a look and make a decision in time for the January window.

If he won't sign we should look for the highest offer this summer and then decide to stick, knowing he will eventually leave for nothing, or sell.

26 games for QPR 0 goals across 3 seasons

It has been covered here his total minutes add up to about 4 games

Ok, let me check - so for QPR:

Season 2020/21 - 11 games 0 goals, 1 start, 146 minutes played
Season 2021/22 - 1 game 0 goal, 0 start, 5 minutes
Season 2023/24 - 11 games 0 goals, 3 starts, 241 minutes
3 seasons - 26 games 0 goals 0 assist, 4 starts, 392 minutes played

Which worked out Kelman played about 4.3 full games in his 26 appearances for the club.

So, what chance had he got to really prove his worth for QPR?

At last! A sensible post that clearly show/proves that he's not had sufficient time to prove himself. Especially at such a young age.

Fans making out hes literally had a whole half a season of football with us and failed to score really grips my sh!t!

I don't get why fans are so dead against giving a chance to a player that is already ours and has banged in 20 goals in just the division below us?! Like we've got other options lined up from Champ or Prem with our "War Chest" !!!

His contract was extended. Before the loan to Orient. For how long, we don't know.

I was at Crawley-Layton Orient the other day as a friend has just moved to Crawley and got to see Kelman in person.

I was impressed. The game was pretty low on quality but he held up the ball well and was running onto balls in-behind well too. He got two but I think his wider link up play was more impressive. He missed one fairly easy chance but looked dangerous.

As I said before, the standard was pretty low in my opinion but I think he definitely had something about him

Meanwhile people will harangue the club on Twitter to “bring” a guy who has scored 16 goals in 37 games in the Icelandic third division.

An actual striker of our own, entering his prime, off the back of a superb season. Novel stuff. It’s laughable we’ll probably end up with our top goalscorer on seven goals and stay up fairly comfortably.

If we accept that other players in the past have had to go out on loan to improve ( and we can include Smyth and Chair in that) then it seems a no brainer to give Kelman a try out. If we accept that players playing well in the past, in the division below us, have caught our eye and encouraged us to spend decent money on them (Dickie), then it seems a no brainer to give Kelman a try out. If we accept that some players develop later than others, then it seems a no brainer to give Kelman a try out. If we are hoping that Larkeche will solve our LB problems (on loan in Scotland) then it seems a no-brainer to give Kelman a try out. If we bitch and moan about improving Ronnie Edwards for Southampton next year, then it seems like a no-brainer to give Kelman a try out. When your four main strikers have a dozen league goals BETWEEN them , it seems like a no brainer to give Kelman a try out

I keep reading that Kelman has bulked up this season and that is a factor in his good performances.

But who made the decision to lock him in the gym and force feed him Guinness and raw meat?

If it was us, then why wasn't that done sooner?

If it was Orient then that suggests to me that Kelman had been written off by us and we were happy to let Orient do what they wanted with him.

Maybe we could let Orient keep Kelman if they agree to swap their Performance staff for ours

I think if you look back to pre season reports there may be some evidence that the bulking up started in the summer, a couple of years back.

I'm no sports scientist but I do think it's often dangerous and counter productive to force physical development of youngsters.

People always cite Michael Owen and his exploding hamstrings in his latter years.

I hope Kelman returns and rips it up.... double figures would be the stuff of dreams and make him the newly crowned King of W12 looking at recent years returns from strikers.
However, sometimes it just doesn't work for certain players at certain clubs.

We'll see........

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal
