| January transfer rumours on 13:34 - Dec 14 with 2062 views | numptydumpty | If that is a loan and if he played 42 games in their championship season going up and at 25 years old too, sounds ideal. If it was a loan with an option for a permanent transfer that would make sense. Would then be clear, Walsh has no future here now, likewise probably Nardi also. [Post edited 14 Dec 13:35]

| January transfer rumours on 14:33 - Dec 14 with 1896 views | Wilkinswatercarrier | If its a loan with option to buy then definite yes, if not then don't bother. I think his contract expires in 2026, but don't hold me to that. | |

| January transfer rumours on 14:35 - Dec 14 with 1891 views | NorthantsHoop | Think Patterson would be a decent signing, lots of Championship experience. We need a keeper that can command their area, Nardi just does not catch or come confidently enough when crosses are piled in and flaps at punches. Walsh has had his confidence shot to bits at Coventry in my opinion. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
| January transfer rumours on 14:53 - Dec 14 with 1830 views | CLAREMAN1995 | A couple of replies and no mention of Ronnie. The way we got split open yesterday with JCS and RND exposed time after time without enough legs to recover we need his presence there IMO. Also he can play further out and close down those moterway lanes Boro exploited through our team and its only to get worse once that tape gets to other upcoming teams . | | | |

Just a question - How much time has JCS and RND played in the same team together, and in fact how many minutes has JCS played in the first team this season? He is probably still getting match fit AND getting to grips with the way the team plays - Think you're being a tad harsh on him there However, I do agree Edwards would be a good signing because of his versatility

If Ronnie Edwards was signed it won't be JCS being dropped, it'll be Dunne.

Dunne may rotate with Cook. JCS won't be in the picture. My prediction that three or four games and he will get another injury that keeps him out fir three months. Edwards makes sense on many levels and if we buy now, we will get him cheap. No brainer for me and if he has options, am also sure, he will choose ourselves.

Cook goes at the end of the season and I would be surprised to the point of being shocked, if we retained JCS. If it were possible and financially feasible to add his wages to the budget, then I'd get Ronnie in asap to allow us to handle the departees in June.

Why will Edwards be cheap in January? Southampton don’t need the money and he’s on the bench most weeks so one long term injury to any of their central defenders and he’s in their team again. And having paid over £3m for him then they’d surely want at least their money back.

Exactly it's normally the total opposite and players are more expensive in January, like you I can't see Southampton wanting to sell unless it's for a substantial fee. We need to show some patience this time and stick with the squad we have till the Summer unless an absolute bargain comes available, we've been burnt too many times before and we need to keep any possible FFP headroom available for the Summer when the best deals are done.

Not sure why it would be Dunne dropped, JCS hasn't exactly been very good since he came back

They'll probably get their money back either to us or someone else. They'd take the money imo as that would help them strengthen other areas of the team Ronnie is also keen to leave, been a very tough couple of months for him.

Game model is possession based, build out from the back, CDs need to be able to step into midfield. JCS and Edwards do that better. Not sure we'll sign him anyway.

| January transfer rumours on 10:49 - Dec 15 with 610 views | TK1 | We often get fixated on the last great loan - 'if only we had him now!' Most recent example is Hayden, who was indeed a very important loan, but, actually, maybe we didn't need to splurge out on him: nearly 31, on a decent wedge and contract, can't get a game. I bet they wish they hadn't. Ronnie Edwards was brilliant on loan. But let's face it, nobody was demanding his loan signature beforehand. Maybe there's better value out there? And do we need a CB in the Jan window? Not sure we need anyone unless we have departures. Recruitment department have been pretty good recently at locating players who fit but haven't been on the fans' radar previously so I'd rather they wait until the summer. Next season is the one we push on, realistically. | | | |

JCS looked like he was running in mud most of the game sat , coming back from injury yes but jeasus he was slow

This is the problem. He is coming back from multiple injuries but not playing much game time to get back up to speed. I'm surprised we haven't taken the Ledley King approach here. Minimal or no midweek training and just play the matches. It may be the only way he can stay remotely fit?

| January transfer rumours on 11:00 - Dec 15 with 562 views | dmm | I agree with Aston. Use the dev squad to plug gaps. After all, that's the supposed 'model', isn't it? If we do need a CB, we have Smith in the dev squad, who is deemed good enough for the Afcon South Africa squad, plus Akindileni and a couple of others. | | | |
