Game model is possession based, build out from the back, CDs need to be able to step into midfield.

JCS and Edwards do that better. Not sure we'll sign him anyway.

I wouldn't be paying too much for Edwards because he is not great in the air and he really is not big enough for a CB these days. If we brought him in the last player to partner him with would be JCS who is also not great in the air and especially in his recent come back games isn't looking strong or quick enough. If Edwards returns and plays CB you'd need to partner him with Dunne for his aerial prowess and let Edwards do your stepping into midfield.

He has shocking hair as well.
And he's not good-looking or anything.

I never fancied him at all.

Cook goes at the end of the season and I would be surprised to the point of being shocked, if we retained JCS.

If it were possible and financially feasible to add his wages to the budget, then I'd get Ronnie in asap to allow us to handle the departees in June.

Akindileni looked better than Smith to me. I think Akindileni is worth a go. Played up in Aberdeen so I assume he can handle the cold weather and nasty pitches made of rubber.

We need a LB, Field is out, Esq is so raw even the oppo know they can roast him alive. RND can do the job but even JS says hes not gonna last 3 games in a row or he may get injured again.

Also, hes not ours and his wages are way too high to buy and why would we when we know hes fragile.

We need to buy a LB with the Eze monies and get Keeper who can catch crosses after that.

zzzzzzzzzz

Brian, are you sure you're not trying to drool over Wayne Rooney, again?

Why would we want to bring in anybody in January? You usually pay over the odds.
This squad is not going down and is unlikely to go up. Take our time, assess the gaps and plan ahead for the Summer.
The GK situation needs resolving. Our favoured LB is only on loan. Neither of the midfield 2 are box to box. Our strikers are fine, although Frey as a backup is clearly coming to the end.
None of those issues are priorities. For now.

I don't think our striker situation is fine. We now play with two but don't have any real alternatives. Frey seems way off it and Kolli is regularly injuredand/or has other issues. Hence we are running Kone and Burrell into the ground. We will need another forward at some stage.

Frey conjures up an array of emotions when I see him shuffling on to play. Mostly the thought that his best position might be one which sees him melted down for glue.

He's way beyond past it, that I'd need convincing that anything in the yoof ranks wouldn't do better.

I think Dillon has great potential too. His loan at Enfield Town was extended to the end of January.

He needs to be playing at a higher level than Enfield Town though. He had a month loan at Torquay which is higher so returning to Enfield doesn’t seem to be progress.

Loaning in a keeper would just be more mud in the water...

Loan out Joe Walsh, keep Nardi until the end of the year with Hamer as backup and Solomon as 3rd choice emergency, then buy a first team level keeper in the summer to compete with Mahoney & Walsh in pre-season.

I'm sure extending it won't be a problem but I believe Hamer is out of contract at the end of December.

I have a niggling worry that Edwards over-performed in his loan spell here.
He certainly hasn't been pulling up trees at Southampton.

I actually think his hair is a bit vvanky, as well.

Don't agree, I feel our keeper situation is needlessly costing us points - Walsh, Nardi and Hamer - all for different types of clanger.

Ok we may not go up but just imagine if this team really starts motoring and we look like top six side but for one glaring issue. Goalkeeper.

I'd already say that Norwich away was partially caused by the panic Nardi brings to the defence these days.

A high quality loan (not Hamer) to the end of the season makes sense to me.

Walsh & Nardi will never been good enough so we may as well move on from them asap.

So we want to go for a 4th starting keeper of the season? I don't see how that can be a benefit unless the person we bring in is levels above what we have.

If we loan in a keeper we are going to buy in the summer, we're building for next season.
If he turns out to be a bit shit as well, though....

Well, if we get someone else in January, Hamer can go immediately, Nardi is believed to be out of contract in June 26, Walsh might feel its in his best interests to get a move, and the lad at Barnsley - who knows? But if we don't want him, I imagine he's a saleable asset
