Should we get promoted its poss clubs may make Jim and staff an offer.

At this stage he still remains unproven, he certainly doesnt want a job where he is trying to dig a club out of a hole to avoid relegation for example.

Nearly got promoted or nearly got to a final doesn't really meet the standard expected at a higher level

Whilst fans are naturally attached to their club, the way in which pro footballers and managers (with very, very few exceptions) manipulate this attachment is a sight to behold... for those with eyes to see. Kissing badges? Kiss my arse

That's not to say JM doesn't feel an affinity with the club, of course he does, but as TS says, he has a higher loyalty to his career and his loved ones

Promotion will have hugely beneficial effects for him, whether he's persuaded to stay or not. You can't "undo" that achievement... but it ain't happened yet, as you rightly point out

When you're top of the league your players are always being watched, so is your manager. You would hope everybody buys into the end goal but when opportunity and money presents itself in football we know what happens. We are only half way through the three year plan to return to the EFL and three years is a lifetime at a football club when it comes to the longevity of players and managers. As a non league club we are vulnerable when it comes to clubs higher up the chain cherry picking our assets, that's normal when you're going well.

The three year plan couldn't really be going any better on the pitch but if i was to be critical i think we need to be more ruthless in front of goal. Everybody is wary of York because of their goalscoring prowess and they have players who can win games on their own. forwards who run at the opposition and bully them. We don't have that at the moment. If there is a plan to strengthen the forward line i hope it's to improve on what we already have and not to just add to the numbers. That should be the first question now, is this player going to make us even better? If we aren't constantly improving we are going backwards. There will be decent EFL strikers warming the bench or out of favour with something to prove, i'd rather see us bring somebody like that in than a young kid with no pedigree at this level who we hope to improve...we don't have the time for that.

Sorry to be bah humbug, but

Keepers 3 Tick
Defence 10 tick
Midfield 10 tick
Attack 6 -Not enough

Of the 6, Rodney and Smith are coming back from injuries, Amantchi goes in a fortnight, Allarrakhia is away, Mani is out for a month and Hendo is a fantastic 40 year-old.

The Rodney situation is , as always, unclear in terms of absences.

Agree some young hopeful is very risky.

Do we really want to build on the superb start to the season?

We need to match York and Carlisle in terms of ambition if not in finance. A squad of 29 is high but it is still unbalanced ,as it was at the start of the season.

Interesting tactics v Altrincham
Us: pass it around among the back three.
Them: stand off and let us do it.

Still, it got us a win so I ain't knocking it.

A thousand Daleys in the away end :O
Sold out so I had to go in the home section and be careful not to celebrate the goals. I wasn't the only one.

Up The Dale

I don’t think it was that unbalanced, more we over-recruited in midfield/full back in hindsight. As we stand, Humbles, Mancini, Hosannah and Tutonda are signings we haven’t really needed to have made.

The amount of strikers was right - if Amantchi had made the impression we’d all have hoped, we’d be fine now. He hasn’t, so we aren’t.

The only position we were missing prior to the season was a player who could play both in the centre and one of the wider defensive three.

It’s the same tactic we’ve used for over two years, we’ve just got better at dealing with teams who do put pressure on and those who don’t. The ball down the channel after relentless passing about at the back led to two goals on Friday.

It probably takes hundreds of hours of work on the training ground to get right. It’s interesting to see how the new keeper and Waller have fitted in, their immediate positioning when we have the ball in our own third shows a real commitment to the structure that’s been established.

Can't disagree and the make up of our forward players has been something i've highlighted over the last five or six weeks. It's a bit of a mish mash and we shouldn't really be relying on Henderson to start games at his age. How many league games has he started in the last eighteen month? It could be envisaged that Mani would pick up a injury which would possibly coincide with Rodney not being available. Smith has been injured and Amantchi hasn't impressed. Then we have Hendo who is 41yrs old and McNulty has been very reluctant to play him for a long time. Even appearances from the subs bench haven't been frequent. I'm sure McNulty will be on top of this and will look to recruit if possible.

It's unlikely he will stay but if he did I don't mind Amantchi playing. He did an excellent job against Solihull of occupying 2 defenders allowing everyone else to run rings around them.

On a side note - watching Boreham Wood against Carlisle and its so easy for Boreham Wood. Hard to tell if it's just because Carlisle are dreadful but... Carlisle are dreadful. No Conn-Clarke either for them, injured or on his way back for a Jan move elsewhere?

Carlisle looked very average when we beat them. The signing of Conn-Clarke made a real difference, Linney benefitting from his arrival too but both have had dips in form recently too it seems. They certainly don’t have the options we do in those forward areas to make changes.

Expect their fans to increase demands for a managerial change if this scoreline stays as it is.

No. Illness throughout the camp, two young lads on the bench.

Linney's home town club are after him in January according to my insider in Preston

I also have it on good authority that CCC is signing for Swindon in January. This in turn has unsettled his mate Linney and there have been massive fall outs in the changing room due to the tactics employed by the manager and coaching team. It's a very unhappy ship.

I’d heard that Peterborough were recalling him next month to sell him.
Didn’t have Swindon in the frame though!

They're near the top of EFL2, it sounds feasable to me. With Peterborough's owner anything could happen. I thought CCC would have signed for Carlisle to be honest.

Hughes said after he’s out for five weeks so any move may be up in the air now.

Lots of criticism again today, including from their own player Kelly in an interview after. They’ll be a playoff side at best.

Could do with him still being out on 7th February!

Why?

I think we’ve shown we’ve more than enough about us this season, regardless of a supposed star man playing for the opposition. As has been said, let them worry about us.

You mean you STILL haven't worked out why some posts get down-ticked?
