Solihull Wednesday 17:48 - Jan 18 with 7371 viewsDelboy

This will be a serious test for us to overcome on Wednesday. Solihull are much improved from the team we thrashed earlier in the season. It's not a situation where we can hope to score the odd goal and ride it out as we are inclined to do. Outside of the top seven they are the team to be most wary of. Their ability to score goals marks them out as a very dangerous outfit. They are capable of punishing you as several teams have found to their cost. I hope we are at our best, take our chances and don't settle back if we score. Hanging on to a one goal lead will not work with these as Carlisle discovered yesterday. Buckle up, I think it could be a tricky one, the first of many over the next few weeks.

OMG What a result. Amazing!

Possibly our best three points of the season. Didn’t play that well but never looked in danger, but if luck for the goal but the mentality and determination to keep getting as many players forward as possible paid dividends.

Henderson has to start if Dieseruvwe isn’t fit on Saturday. He was a real threat after coming on. We could do with Barlow returning if there isn’t an injury too.

Whoever plays though, you can’t argue with this current Rochdale side. Up there with the best we’ve seen when it comes to belief in themselves.

Well done. We currently haven't a clue how to win a game.

Subs upped the tempo

Surprised that Solihull looked like they were playing for a draw after 75 mins?

Stunning goal…a great win in awful conditions

The last few days have started to sort out the top a bit too. It might not totally show looking at the points, but Carlisle and Forest Green are beginning to play themselves out of contention. It could all change again of course.

But probably not with their current managers.

We did what we needed to do against "free scoring Solihull"... don't let them have the ball. Should have had one first half (our miss of the season?) and the second half I was thinking it felt like last season, all the ball and nothing created, but his season is different - we find a way to win, not throw it away (our goal of the season so far?).

Get this on repeat.

Could be wrong but don’t think he meant it and it was ably assisted by the wind.

He doesn't seem to look up but who cares! I don't think we get an awful lot of luck most of the time so we'll take it when it comes along!

It's about time we scored some late goals, we did it a lot during our successful period under Keith Hill. That goal might have been a cross but East was unlucky to score just before that and Bilongo headed a corner just wide. We kept pressing right up to the end in terrible conditions and when you're flying high and confident you get the rub of the green. We limited a free scoring Solihull team to very few chancrs and deserved the win in the end. I thought McNulty's substitutions were spot on tonight also.

Looks like a shot at goal to me, just with the angle and shape of his body towards goal when kicking. Great goal.

He's capable of playing the percentages, so if the wind doesn't get it, there's a player running towards the far post; if the wind gets it, it could go in. The old adage of just take a punt, especially at that stage

I was preparing to write that a draw was a decent result, and it would've been, sending us up to second place

Now just a point behind York with 3 games in hand, but the confidence these last 2 wins will have given the squad, with newcomers blending into the system is immense

Solihull had one header that i remember and that was about it.

They obviously opted for the ‘defend’ button pre-match and first half was played pretty much in their half despite us playing into the wind.

They had a bit of play early in second half as our passes seemed to go 90 yards down wind. Subs changed that and we began to dominate again.

Hendo, East, Bilongo all going close before the most beautiful shot into the far corner you could ever wish to see. Pritch did look up before he shot, only it was a second or so earlier when he will have clocked where the keeper was.

Solihull didn’t get the Southend memo that says ‘if your best strength is attack, then attack’

Here is another angled Pritch shot for accy against us... it's another deceiving specialist cross/shot.

The other significant thing about that goal was his instant, effortless control of the cross-field ball, quite rare at this level

Very true. Don’t care how it goes in as long as it does.

That’s part of the culture that’s been created at the club, one where any small bump in the road isn’t focused on because they know they’ll find a way to get back on track.

There are zero doubts within the Spotland walls.
