Nicely played in by Varane, he created his own shooting opportunity, but pulled the shot. Hoping to see a lot more of him.

I thought we were very good in many respects in the first half, although Burnley were shocking. We were very comfortable with ball in midfield and managed to get the full-backs very high up the pitch but couldnt get the ball from the wide areas into the strikers. Burnley were far better in the second half, and we lost a lot of fluency in possession but did manage to play a little more successfully direct and through the middle, so we were actually able to threaten the goal a few times.

| i lied...burnley home......match thread. on 21:44 - Nov 3 with 1621 views | NorthantsHoop | All I can say we didn't lose, had worries that Burnley would steal it as they usually do at Loftus Road. Sort of happy with a point against a bogey side. | | | |

Not going to get anywhere when we fail to beat the shit teams at home, and Burnley were dogshit in that first half and looked beatable but QPR just didnt do enough where it matters most. |
We can lock the thread right now. Your post sums it up nicely. Sadly .

Wish I shared your positivity. We had a lot of the ball in the first half because Burnley didn't really want it. We could get three quarters of the way up the pitch unchallenged. But once we got there we were pretty clueless. it's not coincidental or a one off that we can't break down a team when we dominate possession. All those midget wingers and supposedly clever full backs. Did one QPR player get to the byline and get a cross in once in 94 minutes? If so I don't remember it. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
| i lied...burnley home......match thread. on 21:49 - Nov 3 with 1405 views | karlski | We’ve dominated and not quite done it. Plenty of chances and half ones. Im generally positive about it because if we play like that we’ll get more points than not. Certainly not a classic performance but should have been enough to win. Yes we need to be more clinical, let’s hope we can hit that note v Lincoln. Many miscues in front of goal but that was made for Obikwu at the end, not saying he should score but pretty rancid strike from my perspective. Also wandered around looking knackered despite only coming on for a short period. I haven’t seen him play much, is that just his style? To be fair he shifted the ball well to open the space for the chance. | | | |
| i lied...burnley home......match thread. on 21:52 - Nov 3 with 1346 views | HAYESBOY | 2 points dropped, definately. Burnley looked shot of confidence first half. We should of won the game in that half, yet we go in behind. That final ball again or wrong decision when in or around their box. How many times did we take an extra touch instead of putting our foot through it. Plus side, thought Varane was very good today, even without his goal which should of been saved. Cirkin good as well. Obikwu has to get that on target at the end. Very dissappointed with a point. | |

Not sure there’s been a bigger critic on this site of Varane than me over the last two seasons but I have to say there’s been a big improvement in him since he’s come into the team in the last few games. I still don’t think he’s good enough but at least he doesn’t look out of place. [Post edited 3 Nov 21:57]

That boiled my piss. Thought Cirkin was excellent today, expected to lose so not too despondent. If, and it's a big if, we can beat lincoln and then get some players back.. A couple of tired performances out there. But, again, we lose that last season.

It is a problem how we are going to break down teams that sit back against us. We do a lot better when we can find space in behind, and we did try to draw them out but they weren't taking the bait. I think we did have plenty of crosses in the first half but more from just outside of the penalty area, but they weren't effective enough/we didn't have enough players strong enough to get on the end of them in a crowded box.
| i lied...burnley home......match thread. on 22:02 - Nov 3 with 1072 views | colinallcars | I thought Vale played well. He's come in for a lot of critiscism - quite rightly, but did well I thought. Chair will bind our attack together. Nil desperandum. QPR 2, Desperandum nil. | | | |
| i lied...burnley home......match thread. on 22:02 - Nov 3 with 1062 views | Stainrod | BTW, what's the issue with Koki? Really like the guy and want him to succeed. Still not fully fit perhaps? But couldn't trap a bag of cement today (albeit a lot of the passes into him were not great). And just seemed low energy. Have been critical of Vale but he actually did quite a bit better first half before fading completely after the break. This tricky winger/ number 10 position was meant to be where we had our embarrassment of riches but not a single one is in form. Only positive is that Chair is back and maybe he will shove Smyth out wide next time because - as someone said in the match thread - the experiment of him up top has more than run its course, he has been blunted the last two games playing there. | | | |

Can you clarify…… did you think Chair changed the game in a positive or negative way? I’ve been in The Chair Supporters Club for the whole of his career here but that was an awful 35 minutes from him. His passing was as atrocious as his team mates around him. Looked proper leggy, you could see his brain always wanting to do that cut inside and unleash the shot but body uncoordinated and half a yard off it. First touch worryingly poor. Hopefully he can play his way back into form as its got to be him above Harvey Fail everyday of the week and twice on a Sunday [Post edited 3 Nov 22:10]

I had real worries that Burnley would come here and steal a victory. Our record against them is poor so nice not to have been done over again. Both goals were goalkeeping mistakes, but we didn't lose, in the past we would have.

Didn't he play the pass for Varane's goal? Thought he did more in his time on the pitch than others who played twice as long.
| i lied...burnley home......match thread. on 22:23 - Nov 3 with 721 views | joe90 | A flat atmosphere in the ground, a disappointing result and an okay performance. Maybe we expected to roll them over? The dynamic of the game changed when Burnley scored and they clearly grew in confidence. They started the second half well and certainly deserved a point. We were ponderous in the final third and lacked the clinical edge we’ve shown in previous games. If we’re serious about the play-offs then we need to be winning games like this. | i lied...burnley home......match thread. on 22:37 - Nov 3 with 560 views | SteveB | Right, quick summary: Pub: Liz line fcked Reading to London, had to make do with a few pints in overpriced Ealing Broadway. Not happy. 1st half: Great 30 mins, conceded another 25 yarder (keeper may have done better?), then shrunk like a spent cock. Note: impressed with both Varane & Vale ( I know, right). No pace. 2nd half. No pace. Absolutely turgid, played right into Burnley game plan. Pathetic. Couple of changes, Kolli, who after a bright 30 seconds in, proceeded to input the square root of fck all & Chair... Ilias, love you - but I am not sure if you add or detract from the team these days, Jury out - but given the benefit for now. Varane continued to impress, Vale did not. Some shit corners ensued. Saito went off, did anyone notice he actually started? Equalizer, Yay - not sure how, but we will take it. We got Varane..... More shit corners. Not much to add last 5 mins, nothing I noted anyway. Crowd. Lively to begin, then much like myself went into a coma until we equalised. Evening rating 6.5 | | | |
