FIFA World Cup thread. 12:02 - Nov 15 with 126832 viewsSnipper

I’m trying to get excited about this World Cup, but to no avail :-((.

I’ve just watched Sky Sports World Cup preview with Gary Neville, Jamie Redknapp, Jamie Carragher & Karen Carney. Utterly depressing viewing. Same old, same old. Picking players for the starting XI not playing for their clubs, or totally off form.

I’m hoping this thread can get the juices flowing.

Do any of you think England have a chance?

All I can think about is how tragic it is that Adel never got to set a WC alight.

Imagining him in this team with En-Nesyri doing his best Heidar Helguson impression would be quite something. Good side Morocco

Something with granulated sugar on the outside? Ghastly terminology

See also: "Flat pitch" as used by umpteen cricket pundits. Pitches like that used to be called true pitches.

Belgium were always going to falter. After all, I tipped them to win the damn thing . Taxi!

But he didn't miss! Look.

Oh hang on, you mean the goal. OK, as you were.

Absolutely scandalous that the 2nd Japan was given. Albeit funny.

Someone more knowledge than I, please explain why that fourth German goal wasn't offside.

Ta.

Wow, utterly mental, Japan top the group, the Krauts are OUT!!!

Got to say, I feel sorry for anyone boycotting this by not watching. This is a brilliant world cup!! Thrills, spills and schadenfreude on tap!!!

Germany are a mess, usually they'd be a banker for at least the semis. This tournament has really opened up for Brazil.

Potential France in quarters then Spain in semis for England, if we reach that final we'll have earned it. We're good enough too

Not such a good idea for the Germans to make their protest by covering their mouths in their team photo a week ago

Let’s go to Peter Walton in the studio who will just agree with the original decision

Just for a few glorious minutes Costa Rica we’re knocking Spain out after losing 0-7 to them.
Delighted to see Germany out: Karl Havertz is one of the most slappable footballers in the world the moody floppy haired vanker.

I think the ball is just in play, very close though, the angle from above is the one which makes it look just in

Hilarious though after Souness had his dig at England being nowhere near as good as Spain and him and Neville wanting to give them the trophy at half time to see Spain get beat and do nothing second half.

Been a really good tournament so far
