Keep Sam. Right sort. Available. Decent.
Sell Varane.
Offload Frey

Several MLS teams are interested (he was meant to go there in January 2024 I think). Plus Championship teams.

He'll be sold, if not January then the summer.

Poll: How is Nourry cooking so far ? 🤣

Isn’t the issue his salary? He was deal was extended to 4 years in May by Nourry and, from what I have heard, he was given a very chunky salary. Back then Nourry was saying how he’d locked down the spine of the team (JCS, Field, and Chair) around which we’d build and develop.

If no one can/will match his salary, he could just sit his contract out (and potentially outlast both Stephan and Nourry…although Nourry gave him the deal.

That’s where it doesn’t make much sense. Stephan clearly doesn’t fancy him, but Nourry invested a big chunk of the wage bill in him. So if we sell him, is it “manager gets what he wants?” Or has Nourry changed his mind in the last 9 months?

Personally, I’d sell Varane and Madsen in the summer, for hopefully £10m combined, keep Field and Morgan and reinvest half of that in signing the replacements, and build the squad like that. Hayden is on a short deal. If we sell Field, then also cash in on Varane and Madsen, it’s a big rebuild and fraught with risk.

I will stamp my tiny feet and cry if we sell Madsen. He's the only reliable two-way mid-fielder we have.

Barry Bannan at 36 would be a good fit for us, even for half a season. Anything to stop us playing against him. Would be like the very brief Ardiles cameo we had many years ago.

Bosh you normally talk a lot of sense, but on this one NO, just NO

Well, if someone offers a few million more than we paid for him, on the back of one bad/one good season, and you have a player trading model, you have to sell.

Player Trading models don’t work if you hold onto the players performing well, as eventually they leave for nothing or never get sold, and you run out of money, or breach PSR because you aren’t bringing in any material income.

In my opinion Barry Bannan at 36 years old is far superior to anyone we have in midfield.
Rarely injured and plays all over the pitch always looking and wanting the ball, never hides.
I would sign him, we need good quality older heads to help our young players and there is no doubt in my mind that even at his advanced age Bannan is still quality.

Nah, he'd probably do a hamstring on debut.

I remember ardillie swan song to this day hell no ban on even now is way better than ardillies was whe. He came to us

Now esquedina is out that leaves us with norrignton as our only left back and he can’t play every game so a big fat no to letting field go in Jan or even in the summer . He’s going to be need a lot in the coming weeks either at left back of central midfield

My memory of Ardiles is that he was average enough for us.

Bannan was poor in the game we won 3-0. First time I have seen him be so poor.

I think age may have finally caught up with him.

I don’t know why because I like Hayden but we do look a better side with Varane in the team.

Exactly I said whilst watching the game his legs have finally gone, which at 36 is fully understandable, he's been a great player but please let's not have a repeat of the Johanson transfer.

Bannan would be wages spent for absolutely no reason other than to block the pathway of someone we already own.

Banaan’s legs may have gone but his name rhymes with “understand” so he’d be the perfect replacement for Varane in regards that song that is so popular with the yoof at away games. Pass the beak!

Crikey moving to Iraq.

Well he is from the country but wouldnt be my ideal move.

Hope he does well though. Good luck to him. Hope he enjoys being back in his homeland.

My brother in law worked there for three months and was working and living in a compound as it was when we still had some troubles there. Got paid a fortune. I not that brave myself !!!
